The way I see it:
The reason they are that way is because, in their previous life, they abused their s.e.xuality.
So in this life they should not abuse their sexuality (or their absence of s.e.xuality again).
They should live life without engaging in s.e.xual relationships.
That is their punishment for the previous life they abused.
They should learn their lessons that s.e.x is for procreation and not for recreation.
