    While there are a lot of physical benefits when one is habitually meditating it shouldn't be the goal, meditation is a "goalless" travel in the here & now

    its also advisable to perform asanas and other from of exercise to prepare your body and mind for Meditation.

    When we meditate we should not expect that this and that will take place. We should just be, at the very moment.

    I don't know about this but from what I have read, meditation activates the dormant sensor, that gives the practitioner sharper awareness of the rise and fall of his/her desire.
