man, the Philippines is a Catholic country so we all should respect it, non-Catholics in the Philippines should respect it. it's common sense, respect, and morality and it won't even need religious beliefs and doctrines to back it up. bikini open during the Holy Week is more than inappropriate.

Nagpahomot rana c Gwen kay hapit na Election...nganung wla mana niya gibawal sauna pa nga mas grabe man to sauna. We dont need Holy Week just to celebrate the death of Jesus, every day is a celebration of happiness/sacrifice/pain religious or not. politician starts to work when election is near. lol

Garcia is a violation of the constitution

Art.3 Sec 4 . No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.

Art.3 Sec 5 . No law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship, without discrimination or preference, shall forever be allowed. No religious test shall be required for the exercise of civil or political rights.

The first section is clear nga No Law shall be passed abridging the Freedom of Expression, which could apply to Bikini Contests. I don't condemn nor do I condone Bikini Contests because I believe people have the right to do what they want as long as it does no harm to me. And even if I am a Catholic I am not actually harmed by them having a Bikini Contest. I am not harmed because they are having this contest in the proper place, in the beach. Where else should a Bikini Contest be held if not at the beach? If sa church ni sila nag contest then naa nay problema pero they are holding these events in the proper place man sad.

The second section is up to you whether you choose to believe that the law was made under the pressure and influence of the Church. If you believe it was, then it basically means that the executive order was passed to respect an establishment of religion. It basically says that even if you are not Catholic, you are required to observe our Lenten Season. The fact that it prohibits these contests during Holy Week tells me that it is an infringement on the Doctrine of Separation of Church and State.

And I agree, but do we respect their religious holidays? Edil Fidr? Ramadan? Yom Kipur? etc.. do we act solemnly during these times? Edil Fidr is a national holiday, dili ba ta mangadto ug beach ani nga time? And I don't think respect is a legal requisite for holidays. Sure I may be a little insulted but I dont try to force my morality on other people. And besides, na-affected ba ang Holy Week tungod ani? Wala ba nadayon ang Holy Week tungod ani? Holy Week was still celebrated, so how did they affect Holy Week?

@mak83: The Philippines is NOT a Catholic Country, although its inhabitants are primarily Catholic, it does not mean that the Government or the Country is catholic.

*Shakes head* double standards."
or ayaw lang bag binastos ani nga particular time. sakto ka bai.

@giddyboy: (page 1) "HMMMM. what about those almost naked dancers in WOWOWEE? aren't they supposed to violate something too?"

Usa sad, how do you think this will affect the Resort Owners income? This is one opportunity for them to earn money, which means that if they earn money they are able to EMPLOY PEOPLE, which means ang mga tao ngadto kay naay trabaho. Of course I'm not saying nga mu-down ila business kung ma ban/restrict ang ingon ani nga mga contests, pero maka affect gihapon ni sa ila bottom line.

@penigabz: you say nga walay mga respeto sila sa ato kahulugan, pero do you think they do it on purpose? or are they just minding their own business? has their activitiy in any way diminished the meaning of Holy Week for you? What about the bars and strip joints nga open inig Holy Week? Why dont I hear you speaking out against them?

Diba bai ang teaching sa ato simbahan kay everyday ato dapat isaulog ang ginoo? so unsa man imo pasabot ani bai?

@Sol_Itaire: "this province should be able to accommodate people of different lifestyles. respetaray lang." I think it already does, diba.

@GOSPELof ROCH: "We dont need Holy Week just to celebrate the death of Jesus, every day is a celebration of happiness/sacrifice/pain religious or not."
I agree gyud ani bai, if mag bikini open sila then let them do it, its supposed to be a Free Country afterall.

To the Organizers, Beach Club Owners, etc.. who are being threatened with civil action, take that opportunity to question the constitutionality of the Executive Order issued by Gov. Garcia, put her on the defensive side of the argument.

The Governor is only trying to instill some morals into her stewards that are legally under her jurisdiction. Those "two-piece suits" that the pageant contestants wear are definitely tasteful and not sleazy, bordering on naked stuff. They have a sense of propriety.

And speaking of propriety, it's only good manners to respect the religion and beliefs of other people. Case in point, you don't see Catholics going around condemning non-Catholics and stoning them or burning them at the stake, do you? It is a time for moderate acceptance. And as such, it is the mark of a civilized man to respect the traditions and practices of a people even if it means sacrificing certain pleasurable events. The world does not only revolve around the constitution. It is composed of a multitude of Cultures, people, places, traditions, religions, beliefs, and what have you.

This state of peaceful existence was not achieved if it were not for the common, decent, honest, and most importantly noble attributes of men who ushered in this era of peace. Had you rather we all be as selfish as Hitler and inevitably start a war over his atrocious ideals? peaceful co-existence is the key to long good life on earth.

fyi: my earlier response to this thread was merely for comical purposes.
