The only person that comes to mind who was saved without having to do 'good works' was the criminal who was crucified with him and believed in Jesus despite seeing him in that sorry disposition (crucified, filled with open wounds etc.) therefore making his belief genuine.

    Luke 23: 38-43
38There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the Jews.

39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!”

40But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?
41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

42Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

43Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”
If you truly have faith in Jesus you will do what he taught for you to do.

    Luke 6:46-49
46“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?

47I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice.

48He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

49But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

na mis-understood man gud to most of us ang logic sa FAITH alone bro. they thought nga kung naa kay faith pwede na maglingkod or magpakasala kay luwas naka. it doesnt work that way. Mao bitaw gi encouraged ni Apostle Paul sa mga believers (saved) to search their hearts if they are still in the faith kay naay daghan mao na ang mindset.
nganong gi nganlan man ng nga teaching nga faith alone or sola fide nga naa man diay work involve? bi gai ko sa imo logic?

so kung mu ingun ka requirements jud an good works nya ang inbalido di man maka work, naa diay sa Bibliya nga ang requirement sa Good works ang normal nga tawo ra? naa diay exemption if requirements man diay sa kaluwasan ang Good works? duna kay mahatag nag verse ana?

pero depende ghapon if unsay definition nimu sa good works. If makapakita ka ug verse gikan sa bibliya to backup your statement nga "technically a good work that doesn't involve doing great things" - mas maayu para maklaru

Anyone can do good works even evil people can start charities to help the needy but these 'good' works alone will not suffice. Man can display himself pleasing and good in public but God knows what he really is...

Also kung magsalig ka sa good works you're diminishing the point and value of Jesus's sacrifice. The essence why He came to Earth and His sacrifice was to tell us that no matter how hard men strive to be good and holy, he is never worthy for God and he can never enter heaven through his own accord. We are cursed, so no matter if we were good all our lives, its not good enough for God. That's is something I find very scary.

It was Luther's way to get the attention of the Roman Catholics in the 16th century because of their practices like indulgences etc.. which were more on idolatry, self-determination equals Salvation than faith directly from Jesus. It was wayward from the true teachings found in the New Testament.

Wala diay ka kahibaw sa origin sa imong pangutana? Dili mana Out of Topic. Sola Fide man imong question na gikan mana ni Luther ug sa mga Protestante atong 16th Century.

The idea is Faith followed by good works. Unsaon man sa taw ug buhat sa tudlo ni Hesus kung dili siya mutuo ni Hesus?
