Senators Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III and Ma. Ana Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal and Olongapo city councilor JC De Los Reyes pledged Tuesday to waive their rights under the Bank Secrecy Law to open their accounts to the public if elected president.

Appearing at the Second Integrity and Human Rights Conference at Hotel Intercontinental Manila, Aquino said he would do so to prove his sincerity in fighting corruption.

But he said he would not presume that members of his Cabinet would do the same, as bank accounts were in the realm of individuals' privacy, protected by the Bill of Rights.

di-a rah. It turns out even PNoy abides to the Bank Secrecy Law as a senator. And to top it off, he didn't fulfill his promise to waive his rights after being elected president. S

RA 6426 is a 1974 law. It is therefore older than the 1987 provision. But, as I stated earlier, the constitutional phrase “in the manner provided by law” means provided by law either before 1987 or after 1987.

See, BIR Dir. Estrella martinez, in all of her 32 years of SALN exam did not find any public officer who disclosed a dollar deposits. Plainly all these public officials understood RA 6426 in the same manner as the Chief Justice.

that is why this trial is an opportunity to change that habit. i thank corona for his waiver, he gave the public an eye opener. i can just imagine how stupid those 188 congressman, the porky drilon and noy2x. they have no idea theyre on the same stage as corona its just that corona is in the hotseat.
