Whatever the verdict will be, it is clear that Corona's defense team made the House of Representatives led prosecution team look like rank amateurs. They should have gotten better prosecution lawyers who are used to litigation, not congressman lawyers who want look good in front of national television to bolster their political ambitions. Let's see how the verdict goes but if Corona gets acquitted, we will all know why. Just my honest 2 cents worth.....

Asa nimo nabasahan nga wala katunga sa mga undeclared saln sa mga prosecutor ug mga senator-judges?
Or is it just your presumption?

    huwat nalang ta sa verdict..

    http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/05...a-analyst-says

    Constitution versus RA 6426

Salipsip said that the nondisclosure of dollar accounts by Corona is now the subject of interpretation of laws, since some senators believe Constitution should prevail over RA 6426.

"Some people are saying, the FCDU (law) came ahead, and the Constitution was much later, so they're saying it's the Constitution that must prevail," he said.

"I think most of us will believe that it's the Constitution that prevails because it says assets and liabilities. Your assets would include all kinds of money that you have including the dollar deposits that you have," he said.

Very true that the prosecutors were not at par with the defense team.
But as for the verdict mag-agad ra gyud ni sa decision sa mga senator-judges how they will interpret the law.

Coronas admission of the existence of his undeclared $$ bank accounts and assets is now a fact.
He did not declare it in his SALN because of his interpretation of the law.
The issue is about inclusion or non-inclusion of assets in the SALN. The amount is irrelevant whether he has $10M or not.
Perhaps this is also the reason why the prosecution team waive the cross exam as corona has already admitted the above. That is what all the prosecution needs.

Tan awa nalang ning line up sa defense team ni Corona oh.. puro famous and one of the most expensive na lawyers, acceptance fee palang ani nila tag pila na plus the per session.. daghan jud kwarta si Corona.. compare sa mga prosecutors na wala naman ni ga practice, ug mga batan on pa, wala mga experience kaayo..

    from Wikipedia..

The prosecutors from the House of Representatives enlisted the help of private practitioners to assist them; this was opposed by the defense, saying that only the prosecutors from the House of Representatives are the "sole prosecutors". The Senate allowed the existence of the private prosecutors citing "matter of rule and precedence". The private prosecutors who are allowed to assist the public prosecutors in impeachment proceedings are:

    Mario Bautista
    Arthur Lim
    Demetrio Custodio
    Jose Benjamin Panganiban
    Clarence Jandoc
    Ernesto Viovicente
    Frederick Vallestero
    Winston Ginez
The prosecution also named representatives Miro Quimbo, Lorenzo Tañada III and Juan Edgardo Angara as their spokespersons.

    Defense

Supreme Court spokesperson Jose Midas Marquez described Corona's defense team as a "powerhouse legal team".
Serafin Cuevas, former Supreme Court associate justice, Trustee of New Era University
Jacinto Jimenez, professor at the Ateneo Law School
Jose Roy III, former dean and president of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
Eduardo delos Angeles, former dean of the Ateneo Law School
German Lichauco II, partner of the Siguion Reyna, Montecillo, Ongsiako law firm
Dennis Manalo, partner of the Siguion Reyna, Montecillo, Ongsiako law firm
Ramon Esguerra, general counsel of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines
Tranquil G.S. Salvador III, former dean of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay
Karen Jimeno, formerly of the Quisumbing, Torres, Evangelista firm

Somehow, I don't share the prosecution team's confidence. But let's wait and see....

They are confident because the SALN has only P3.5M while corona admitted he has in his name US$2.4M + P80M undeclared.
It is all now in the hands of the senator-judges.

    My wishful thinking.
If the senator-judge has in his/her name undeclared $$$deposits and Pesos, he/she will vote on the basis of RA6426.
If the senator-judge has no hidden assets, he/she will vote on the basis of the Constitution.

    Therefore i conclude...
it will be easy for us to know who has hidden wealth and who has none based on their vote. hehehhehe.

If dili ganahan ang mga prosecutors moabli sa $$bank account ni corona, puwede ba nga kita nalang moabli ani?
Kinsa may sa inyo mukuyog nako ani? Bahinon nato whatever amount atong makita.

Nagsulti man gyud corona before sa media nga wala siyay $$ accounts. Wala akong $$ accounts. Kung sakali mayroon kayong makita inyo na.

So bakakon diay ni corona kay karon iya man gi-admit naa siya $$ accounts.

Ang defense ni Corona is that 6426 is "absolute" (and that word is there in the act itself)... The clause about the SALN in the constitution says "...as provided by law"--So if it's decided that there is a discrepancy, Corona's defense is he did it in good faith and now that Corona has put forth a waiver to reveal all his assets in both dollar and peso accounts, to show that he is not hiding anything--he only tried to abide to the law AS how he interpreted it--mao ni issue before verdict.

    from a PExer havoc_0785
Q: Was there a non-inclusion of asset in his SALN?
    Y: Yes.

Q: Does it warrant a violation?
Y: Yes, only if there is NO other law which will support the non-inclusion.

Q: Is there another law stating the need to debar the disclosure of some assets?
Y: Yes, the FCDU Law which states absolute confidentiality. (RA 6426)

Q: Which should prevail over the FCDU and the SALN Law?
Y: It must be decided by a competent court, the SC i think or by amending the FCDU law to align with the SALN Law.

On the issue as to what should prevail between the absolute confidentiality of FCDU and the SALN law is beyond the power of IC. So that the CJ should be given a benefit of the doubt and be given the presumption that he is in good faith in preparing his SALN.

    Thus,the remaining question is this

"should we impeach the CJ based on his interpretation in preparing his SALN?"
basihan sa mga pangutana ug reaction sa mga senator-judges gahapon (except Drillon and Kiko, as expected) I think there's going to be an acquittal. Pildihun pud na sa defense ang prosecution sa oral arguments. You have two conflicting laws, WITHOUT any precedence in the SC or anywhere--you cannot convict/impeach someone for that.

But again other factors will dictate the verdict, ky political proceeding mani.

irregardless sa verdict one thing is for sure... Corona has retaliated in handing out damage to some of his detractors.
