As I see it, Lacson wanted to play his game. Maybe he wanted to assure he would win his next presidential bid hence this character assassination of his political opponents. He might think Villar is a strong contender so he will have to taint his image as early as now.

Little did he notice that he is not just tainting Villar's image but the whole Senate as well. The congressional insertions might be perceived by the public as a way of corruption when it is not really like that. More so, if he really wanted to prevent this to happen, he should have done so before the passage of the 2008 GAA. He need not wait until this time before he exposed this kind of controversy.

we shouldnt be quick in saying its politically motivated (it could be though) and iabswelto dayun nato si Villar. no matter how dirty we know Ping is, let us look the validity of his accusations first. the way i saw it after Ping made his privilege speech nag kangakanga intawon ug tubag si Villar murag guilty jud. although it is unlikely for Villar to pocket the money because he is already rich, the fact that the C5 road project would benefit his family's realty business, that would surely cast doubts on him and its no good for his presidential ambition.

between Villar and Lacson in 2010, i would choose Bayani Fernando! LOL

I am not defending Villar in this issue. If there's really an anomaly, he should be held answerable for it. I just could not help but question the timing of the senator who just had a privilege speech.

It seems like they really have to investigate the matter accordingly. After all, Lacson will not stop this until he can exhaust all publicity he can to gain popularity. On the other hand, to clean their own ranks, Senate would really have to do this. Otherwise, the integrity of the Senate, if there's any, would be ultimately questioned.
