Instead of vallisneria, try bayabas (Hygro corymbosa) theyre large (5-6 inches per leaf under good growing conditions and hard water) and tough.

or watersprite, When rooted can grow up to a foot or more per frond (this is a wierd plant, leaf formation varies in hard or soft water that you'd think its a different species) .

you are looking for large plants right?

I keep my vallis in a small plastic pot because they are too invasive and uncontrollable when put in the gravel bed. I have never tried trimming the edges though and i just let the leaves reach the surface. I might need to trim the edges kay murag daghan and taas na kaau.

In terms of identical plants to the val, dwarf sag comes to mind pero too short pud mga 1-4 inches tall and is high maintenance.

@zerk, try dwarf sags, kana kang ryan, that came from us, not all dwarf sags stay dwarf, if kulang light they would grow taller, ok ra pud siya pang background. mao na setup sa ako gf, puro dwarf sags ang crypto, nindot man pud ang crypto.

atman UVs 9watts around 2700, 18 watts around 4k, ok naman na na price kaysa sa sera na times two.

nindot ta to zerk if you have whiptail catfish, maau kaayo mulimpyo lumot. you can also try to cut away leaves with hair algae.

Tag pila na ang whiptail karon? last time naka pangutana ko (dugay na nuon kaau), around 900 php for a 2 inch fish. grabe.

Ako problema kay ang algae sa glass. kapoy scrape every week. Sayang, patay na ako ancistrus.

i have plenty of sags (out of control sab)... the vallis are at the back. can't find cryptos here ...... :P

di ba dako kaayo whiptail catfish?? gamay ra man tank nako yoncha.. naputol nako most of the infested leaves... let's see what happens.

kapoy maintain sa riccia. nindot unta kaau i carpet. once it grows to around half to an inch, the lower parts of the plant will rot. you will need to tie them again otherwise they will look ugly. The good side is that your riccia has multiplied!

Naa koy nabantayan sa riccia, if they receive low light for a long time, they turn dark green and sink.

Some people i got acquaited here found an ingenious idea to tie riccia fast. They bought this "shower back scrubber" made of a long nylon net laced together (murag gi sinapid ni) (if im not mistaken napalit ni sa metro ayala sa mga towels and shower accessories section)
They disassembled the scrubber, made a small pocket with the net and placed a riccia ball and a weight inside and tied them. The riccia inside will grow and form a green ball and the weight will make the ball sink. (look ma no more tying)

Hehe, i got rid of my riccia a long time ago. Too much trouble.

soggy is right, very troublesome ang riccia, maypa mag moss nalang.

whiptail nako wala man ni dako, naa ra sa 6inch, that is small enough, considering na very long iya lawas. tapulan man ancistrus. hehe. naa to breeder sa manila murag tag 500 ra iya whiptail, makaorder man ta to si ryan but nahutdan sya ug stock. dugay na pud ko nangita anang whiptail, ganahan ko mutanaw nila. very cool catfish. :mrgreen:
