The National Basketball Association and the players are under the Collective Bargaining Agreement and players recognizes the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) as their exclusive bargaining representative of all the present and future players employed in the league . CBA exist to negotiate union members' contract on wage scales , working condition and etc . Also , it also exist to determinte the trade rules , draft procedure , Free Agency - stuff that iStoryans would like to talk about and even gone pipedreaming about Dwight Howard and Chris Paul to the Lakers . The CBA also exist so the NBA could not violate the anti-trust laws .

There's usually a time limit on the CBA contract , and once the contract nears the expiration date , they'll have to negotiate for an extension , or make a new deal (like the owners are doing) . If there's no new agreement on both sides on the day of the expiration date of the contract , the employer (league) would declare a work stoppage aka LOCKOUT .

WHY WE HAVE A LOCKOUT NOW ?

During the negotiation period , the players still insist to continue to operate what's under the 2005 CBA while the owners want a new deal . The owners claim that they're losing $300 million , so they proposed a hard salary cap , salary rollbacks , eliminate guaranteed contracts , and 50-50 split on Basketball Related Income in hope to guarantee all 30 teams a profit . But the players find it as a joke . So now both sides are playing "hardball" .

kanang lock out nila bro mura na ug workers on strike diri... kanang unionize nga labor force ba... ang NBA players kay unionize man na sila, so naa silay CBA (collective bargaining agreement). parehas ra pud na diri, nga naay CBA ang mga employees nga unionize. every 5 years, i-renew na ang CBA. and kung dili sila magkasinabot sa management sa bag-o nga CBA. pananglitan, mganayo ba kaha ron ug increase sa sweldo ang mga employee nga unionize, then dili mohatag ang management, then mao na ang lockout. walay nasabotan nga CBA. diri sa Pilipinas, on strike ang mga empleyado ana.
