If that's really true, perhaps they are just trimming down in order to ensure the quality of education to pass the standards. I can assure you guys, shipping business and seafaring will never be extinct.

‎"TOP 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD MARRY A SEAMAN"

Filipino seafarers have long suffered the dreaded reputation of being womanizers. Dubbed as SEAMANloloko (a play on words that means ‗cheater‘), they are unfairly viewed as players working different girls on different ports. Although these allegations might be a little true based on a stash of seamanloloko files and anecdotes we h...ave heard and seen ...ours...elves, there are still in fact a number of seafarers who are true blue romantics, the type who can stay faithful to Aida. And Lorna. And Fe… So why marry or go out with a seafarer despite the bad rep? Here are our top 10 reasons:

    1. They have the bling. Because they are well paid for the job they do, they can support the needs of a family, making them great providers. All good men are great providers. Seafarers are great providers. Hence, seafarers are all good men. Enough said.

    2. They have guts. Men with good attitude can work under pressure, but only men with guts can work under pressure on board a vessel in the middle of the ocean. And who are those men with guts to work under pressure on board a vessel in the middle of the ocean?

    3. They are tough. Seafaring is always subject to unforeseen dangers—crazy weather, changing tides, mighty pissed Mother Nature, pirate attacks, etc. It is definitely not the job for men with weak hearts. Only the bold, the mighty and the brave can sail into the big oceans and endure these dangers. Hence, they are hard wired to defend you for what it‘s worth. While you‘re out on a date with them, you don‘t have to worry about a thing. They got you all covered.

    4. They have the body. Okay, so not all of them are as drop-dead gorgeous as Brad Pitt, but they sure are fit thanks to their rigorous maritime training that involves the hardening of muscles, hearts and minds.

    5. They are low maintenance. It doesn‘t take much to keep a seaman happy. Just give him a beer, make him sit on a couch and watch his favourite sports on TV and he‘s good to go. No need for fancy dinners (although they would also appreciate that) or expensive suits.

    6. They are great dates. Seafarers have been to different places all over the world and they have tons of stories to tell about their travels and experiences on board. When you go out with one, you‘ll never get bored because he will always have interesting tales to tell you.

    7. They are not clingy or demanding. Because tons and tons of water take him away for months on end, he will never be clingy or demanding. He is a busy person doing something important, so he will not pester you about the small things like why you haven‘t called or why his shirt is not ironed perfectly.

    8. They don‘t give up easily. If he is a quitter, he wouldn‘t last a month on board. He can apply the same patience and perseverance in keeping a relationship. He wouldn‘t quit on you or your family as long as he knows that you are worth fighting for.

    9. They have a way with words. He may not be a poet, but he sure is persuasive enough to make you believe that there‘s no other girl in his life but you. Seriously, he is trained to speak with integrity to his officers and if he respects you with all his heart and mind, he will give you the same treatment or maybe even more.

    10. They are keepers. Once you‘ve captured a seaman‘s heart, you can be sure that you‘ll be the only girl he will look forward to going home to. And just like Popeye, he will have his eyes on just one Olive.
