CDN Editorial:
...In the minds of ordinary folk, it comes down to this: Who is above the law?
The episode will also heighten the perception that due process—a fair opportunity to answer and defend oneself against an accusation—..., is not really valued.
The closed gate reflected an unwillingness to listen.
If a judge’s plainly written March 28 order is not heeded, what recourse do aggrieved families have in a community that is supposed to follow the rule of law?
...Hard lessons are being learned here.
Not just for the teenage girls, who have to bear the consequences of flouting school rules about bikinis, boys and Facebook exposure.
The Catholic school, a respected institution in Cebu, has to face the backlash of enforcing rules in a manner that, in the words of the judge, fell short of being fair and humane.
With the closed gate, the other lesson could be a willingness to heed a higher order.

If there's a comment that I read almost anywhere and gets buried down the depths of commentland, it's that everytime CDN and Sunstar writes something, it is:
-Unfair to any sides of the camp.
-Very incomplete, open to speculation and manipulation.
-When the above happens, people easily ride the hate bandwagon especially the ones.that side with STC.
-Sensationalist.
I'm sorry but everytime I post here in this subforum, its because I find the news terribly written. I'm like "Hey guys! that act is a phony, here's why..." while the rest of the members join the circlejerk.
Have the media seen the pictures? I doubt it. How can you define "indecent", "slut" and cheap when all you hear is just one side of the story?
@ReikoChan bro unsay imo ikasulti about adtong giingon sa lawyer nga wala daw bond sanglit "defective" ang TRO?
Libog pud ni kay ang gipahamtang nga sanction is not to attend graduation, so if pasudlon and tumanon ang TRO (given nga dili defective) then inig husay na sa husgado moingon ang judge nga 'sige ipahamtang ninyo ang silot', well, late na pud kay nakapaso naman hehehe

Bikini, Facebook and school policies: A complex legal mazeMaceda said that under the Manual of Regulations for Private Schools, school authorities could discipline students who violate the institution's rules anywhere - as long as these are committed when students are engaged in school activities.
Maceda also cited a Supreme Court ruling which said that the school could punish students even if the act is committed outside school premises and not connected to campus-related functions - as long as the misconduct "involves his status as a student or affects the good name of the school."
