Thread: Poetry anyone?

  1. #511

(written years back.. i should really get back to writing )

    Two years and more
    You I adore
    Two years and more
    I now abhor.

    Love it came
    Love it flees
    Who's to blame
    Who killed the flame.

    Two years and more
    I wait in vain
    Two years and more
    I can't reclaim.

    Default A vain cloud

    A VAin CLOUD

    (niyel Comito)
    year 2005

forgive myself in a vanity of clouds

when all sense that it sways like a leaf

be all its face be fogy and allow them to

share a soft mist of metal falling.

i can be a cotton though a steel

be felt tender on drizzle dropsss....

sounds soft not on touch nor hearring nor sight

but sounds soft as well on sight.
sound soft well demand t'will warm.

but forgive me im a cloud...

    I've entered this game
Like a bastard with no shame
    Expecting no fame
    Oh I'm so lame..

Facing the crowd with all guts
Without the feeling of bruise and cuts
    I thank you for reading
    This wonderful feeling..

    A smile incurred my reflection,
As time brought me to a nostalgia,
The euphoria that beset my heart,
When you bought back my humanity.

From then on, I found myself imprisoned
In your fascinating charm and kindness,
Yet I never longed to escape loose,
I will linger entrapped in your bosom.

You are the source of my strength,
A strength to surpass all the tribulations,
The courage to believe in light in total darkness
And the voice that keeps my soul in delight and sanity.

    Destiny might find us apart,
But in each night I wrote on the stars,
And whispered to the wind by day,
The undying love I have entitled upon you.

So this I say without diversity or hesitation,
Despite the world’s ordeal and spite,
My heart will remain yours and yours alone
From now until the last breath I’ll have.

    'National Anthem'

A moment, so luminous in its beauty
    is so fragile.
The mind wants to capture it
and preserve it in a pieace of paper,
    but it never succeeds;
    the moment soon evaporates
    into thin air.

    But still,
    before it slips out
    of space and time,
    let me first frame it
    and say
that we are in a room,
    the walls are awashed in yellow light;
    we were dancing.
    And I felt so happy
    that I wanted to sing,
and of all the songs I could recall
it was a song by Radiohead,
    and I wondered how songs
    can have such power
    as to color memories:
    It brought to my mind
the time I was travelling down South,
    a long time ago;
    it was dawn
and I looked out the windows of the car
at the beach, at the sea.
    The song is so surreal
    and this is so surreal.

"Hilak sa mga Anak sa Bongbong"

    Human ka nagpabuhagay
    sa pag inusara mong pagtagay
    sa lawasnon mong kalipay.
    Imo akong gi labay.
    Sa salog nipilit,
    sa bongbong ni dagayday.

    wilik sa wala!
    wilik sa tu-o!
    pilit nganhi..
    pilit didto..

    Adlaw lang ang nanglabay
mga anak mo sa bongbong ni sanay,
    daw puting kwaknit nga nangumbitay
    kay bisyo mo kanunay.
    Ang pagpabuhagay
sa puting dugos sa lawasnong kalipay.

    All things bright and beautiful
    All creatures great and small
    All things wise and wonderful
But i was stuck on the wall
How can i see them all..

Oh how I wish i was born
    not in your hand..
Because I want to feel the sweet caress of my native land...

    Hina-ot dunggon mo,
    walog ning mga luha ko......

i cannot love you with a love
that out compares the boundless sea
for that was false as no such love
and no such ocean can never be.

but i can love with a love
as infinite as the wave that dies
and dying holds from crest to crest
    the blue of everlasting skies.

somewhere i have never traveled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
    the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
    my god EE cummings...

    nice one.

I know Neruda's turning to be a cliche, but this poem is just too good.

    Leaning Into the Afternoon
    Pablo Neruda

    Leaning into the afternoons,
I cast my sad nets towards your oceanic eyes.
    There, in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames;
its arms turning like a drowning man's.
I send out red signals across your absent eyes
that wave like the sea, or the beach by a lighthouse.
    You keep only darkness my distant female;
from your regard sometimes, the coast of dread emerges.

    Leaning into the afternoons,
I fling my sad nets to that sea that is thrashed
    by your oceanic eyes.
The birds of night peck at the first stars
that flash like my soul when I love you.
The night, gallops on its shadowy mare,
Shedding blue tassels over the land.

Wesley Snipes reading this for the Il Postino CD killed me!
