Default best engineering school in cebu

Every school has it's marketing slogan simply to attract prospective students as such CIT-U Tops Again! others too claim such feat UV Leads Again! UC It's becoming a Habit (topping board exams); while USC always the Premier University in Cebu, etc

But to have an objective, factual, independent third party assessment of the performance and ranking of schools, colleges and universities, the CHED, PRC and accreditation bodies have the data and information.

These are the facts, data and information :

CHED citation as to status of school, centers of excellence (COE) and centers of development (COD) :

    CIT-U : status : Deregulated

Not blaming the students ha, kay diha graduate ako parents. Pero sila mismo kaingun dyud nga lahi na sauna nga maghuot sa top 10 board exam passers ang gikan CIT ug MIT.

If Mapua is the benchmark of CIT-U there seems to be a big gap, aside from producing topnotchers in board exams Mapua has raised it's standard to higher level by modernizing it's laboratories, library, workshops; sending it's facult abroad to pursue Doctoral and Master's degree in specialized areas of engineering at leading universities in US, Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia. Instituting entrance exams and selective admission of new students and transferees; improving the student to teacher ratio to have an effective classroom population. Active involvement of faculty and students both at the undergraduate and graduate levels on Research, Innovation and Development undertakings and projects, thus attaining the mandate of an institution of higher learning and truly worthy of a University status despite it did not seek to be a university.

The above mentioned institutional development of Mapua is what the USC Technological Center has pursued and undertaken in it's 75 years of existence in the academic community of Metro Cebu! After 75 years USC-TC is one of the leading universities in the Philippines in science, technology and engineering. As well in other competitive professional fields such as Law, Accountancy, Business & Finance, Economics, Sociology & Anthropology, Philosophy, Teacher Education, Pharmacy, Architecture & Fine Arts, Hotel & Restaurant Mgmt, Tourism, Foreign Studies & Languages, Basic Education, among others.

Going back to science, technology & engineering, USC-TC is one of the most modern university campus in the Phils with it's state-of-the-art air-conditioned lecture rooms, audiovisual rooms, laboratories, research facilities and workshops such as advanced instrumental analytical chemistry labs; biochemical & biotechnology lab; chemical pilot plant for unit operations & processes; mini-power plant w/ turbines, generators, boilers; hydrology & soils engineering lab; materials testing lab; microelectronics, robotics & pcb design & fabrication lab; process instrumentation & control lab; mechatronics / CNC machines (CNC Milling & Lathe); instrument calibration and maintenance workshop, among others,
Aside from these modern laboratories and research facilities, USC-TC has new modern central library building (4 floors) one of the largest library in the country; modern and spacious dormitories; alumni social hall and reception center; botanical garden (managed by CAS-Biology Dept.) as well a tunare trail park; now under construction is a sport stadium which will eventually make the USC Talamban campus a university city itself comparable with campuses the best universities in the country such as UP Diliman, UP Los Banos, Ateneoi de Manila, DLSU and UST all in the capital Metro Manila.

As to the notion that students in USC are all rich is a myth, most students belong to middle class families and ut from the provinces of visayas and mindanao. But a lot are academic scholars of the university or scholars of corporations, foundations, alumni associations of USC both locally and abroad, state and government funded scholarships; as well non-academic scholars, USC has a total of 550 academic scholars and another 350 non-academic scholars. There about 200 working students of USC in the four campuses of the university.

CTU is a good engineering school, as state-run university it's funded by national govt. and it's admission policy of new students is selective as well it has strict retention policy. That's why it has high percentage passing in board exams particularly in mechanical and civil engineering. Most of the students at CTU are from the municipalities and barangays of Cebu province. It has topnotchers too in mechanical and civil engineering in recent years.

At USC the admission and retention policies of students are strict and stringent in order to keep up it's quality standards. Quality starts at the source (raw materials, input materials) hence the quality of students has to be tested and assessed for quality control, "garbage input = garbage output" Thats why at USC we are selective of admitting and retaining students particularly in the sciences, engineering and other colleges a as graduate school, law, accountancy, architecture & fine arts, pharmacy, economics, among others.
It is also part of USC's philosophy and culture to maintain "Academic Freedom" of it's faculty members and professors in their methods of teaching, testing, assessin conducting research" within the bounds of the universities academic standards and institutional policies. While it's true many professors at USC
flank about 50% of the students if they can not perform, deliver and pass tests and requirements of the subject / course BUT the professors are also monitored and assessed by department chairs their compliance / adherence to the syllabus and curriculum; employment effective tools & approaches to ensure students can understand, recall, comprehend, analyze and apply the lessons of the course / subject. Professors at USC have PhD and Master degrees abroad (Europe, Japan, Australia) DO NOT SPOON FEED THE STUDENTS BUT RATHER FACILITATE
AND GUIDE THE STUDENTS TO LEARN, DEVELOP THEIR ANALYTICAL SKILLS, INDEPENDENT AND CRITICAL THINKING. this is what Universitry Education must be!

Katong mga straight ug naning ayo nga students tops the board exam.

yeah, proud to be ctunians, bsag it ko dli engineering, i must say na nindot ang training sa CTU in terms of engineering. and i thinks in terms of teaching pareha reha ra ang CITU ug CTU. But then depende ra na sa estudynte kung magkat un cya,
