    Default Survival of the fittest

guyz, it is true that SIBERIAN HUSKIES is a member of da wolves family?
Hi! Saw the video, thanks for sharing.

To answer your question, huskies (and malamutes) are not wolves or half-wolves... and they were not bred from wolves. It's the same thing as the cats we have...they did not originate from lions and tigers. They may look alike and have the same body built & reflexes.. but that's all.

Wolves & huskies came from a common ancestor ... but huskies did not come from wolves. (just like cats did not originate from lions).

Huskies (and malamutes) look like wolves, because of their environment and for survival. It's all about evolution and the selective breeding done by the northern tribes sa unang panahon. They have common traits, for ex. howling. Why? Because all northern dogs & wolves communicate that way. They need the other pack dogs! Diba, unsaon man nila pag survive sa wild/snow kung sila ra usa?

They need the thick double coat to withstand the snow and freezing temprature. Grabe ilaha pain tolerance because they need to survive in a hostile environment. They can stand days without food (because gamay ang food sa snow).

What's special about huskies that's different with wolves? They are domesticated dogs and not wild. They were bred to run and pull heavy sleds (that's why grabe sila ug endurance, strength & energy). Working dogs gyud.

If you think about it, dugay na naay serious dog breeders (hehe). The Innuit tribe bred Alaskans while the Chuckchi people of Siberia bred huskies. They chose the strongest, the best dogs and those with pleasing personality (toinks!). The weak ones did not survive. Surivival of the fittest gyud. The "aggressive" ones were not bred anymore. (nyiga gyud sa ilahang breeding program!). Diba, why would they keep the bad dogs who might attack their children?

The reason why huskies are super friendly & cannot be guard dogs... because cge man na ug travel ang mga tribo (looking for food). They have no sense of permanent home and they always meet up with other tribes. Unsa man i-guard nila, ang igloo? if the weather is bad, they have to move to a safer place. mao wa jud na sila permanent home address.

They have strong desire to run, because tagbao gyud na sila dagan sa snow! Wild open spaces. They are not used to being fenced or caged. Higot ra if needed.

That's how the huskies evolved. Ngilnyig gyud ang mga northern tribes sa pag "manipulate" sa breeding program sa ilahang dogs...because they need specific characteristics for their survival. This did not happen overnight. Generations of dogs gyud na and even after many many years, its still imprinted in the genes of our huskies now!

Mao huskies here are happier if you give them an electric fan and aircon. Di gyud na nimo ma pugong. They will instinctively look for cold areas. That's the closest "freezing environment" we can give them. Imprint na sa ilahang genes hehehe

Siberian Husky note to self: "demand for an aircon/electric fan 24 hours".

    Default Selective breeding... :)

    The dogs sense of purpose...

These dogs were also "manipulated" by the breeding program of humans. Mao no matter what we do, mubalik gyud na ang special and natural "instinct" & personalities of that dog even if we humans do not teach them.

SPORTING DOGS - Golden retrievers & cocker spaniels will naturally fetch balls because that's what they were bred for. To retrieve wild birds that were shot by the hunters. That's the reason why they are also comfortable with water. Instinct gyud na nila maski dili nato tud-luan...mu fetch gyud na sila.

    HOUND DOGS
    - bred to have keen sense of smell. I had a beagle 4 years ago. Na train nako to siya to off-leash..ang ka-apan ato nga iro, once she is smelling something on the ground, dili na gyud ko niya tag-don. Why? beagles/blood hounds etc were bred to follow the smell of a prey.

WORKING DOGS - huskies & malamutes were made to work by pulling sleds.

Just a few example on how dogs were bred to specifically excel in tasks such as guarding, protection (GSD & rotts), herding (collies), hunting, pulling, rescuing etc.
