1] Those are not the ONLY conditions in forming a union. There are a lot more. Â*Wages & Benefits are not the only causes of grievance.

2] It's not really that high. Â*It's still feasible to form a union even with the current rate of turnover and a significant Â*number do stay for a good number of years because of the pay & benefits.

3] One cannot easily transfer from one center to another because the CCAP have an agreement not to accept employees from a previous call center from 12-18 months and even more for supervisors/managers to another center for obvious reasons.

4] Probably when there are no changes and these people that feels the "crunch" will be old enough to transfer to a different industry or company then that will be the time that forming a union will be most imminent. Then all the more time and reason for these call centers to shape up.

5] Even without these conditions, it will only take one brave, convincing/charismatic & dynamic individual to from a union because the cause is already there and in our country we unions can be formed even just for the heck of it what more with just cause? Â*if you have read the article above..

"The easiest way is to go under the protective cloak of a federation, which is composed of at least 10 labor organizations, to fast-track the filing and other requirements needed by the Department of Labor and Employment from legitimate labor organizations."

at least the people in call centers mostly has a choice compared to those working in department stores and manufacturing. Â* Some of this establishments also practices unfair labor practices and give low salaries. huhuhu...

correct! nine to five btaw work sa auditing firm. 9 am to 5 am the next day, hehehe. pero nag form ba gud ug unions ang mga jr. auditor sa auditing firms? wala, kay conditions for forming a union despite the long hours are not present.

kabalo man sila nga in a few years time, these jr. auditors will becoming accounting supervisors,managers/controllers in other companies. or move up to partnership within the firm.

Again, when very few choices are left or there are none then UNIONS are formed.

your point sir?Â* it is their choice (auditing firm employees) and working conditions are not the only concerns in call centers. there are unlawful policies and onerous contracts.Â* what is it that you're driving at?Â* kindly read the progression of this thread right from the start.

are you trying to imply that because call center employees are getting better wages and benefits than almost any employee, sector, firm or industry; we will just allow our rights to be stepped on or compromised?Â* is that your point sir?

i remembered when PAL employees and even Managers joined (technically they cannot join unions) most of the people's reaction was, "ah! kalami ug nindot na ana inyong mga sweldo ug trabaho, mag reklamo pa mo?"Â* but in reality there really was injustice and illegal dismissals.Â* so it is really hard for people who are not involved or has not experienced to give a logical, objective comment and perspective.

Unsa pa man ang ubang conditions? Despite objections to earlier postings, you have to admit among all the industries in this country. The call center industry is the LEAST likely to form UNIONS.

    At least for NOW.

That is true but it will not stop the minds and emotions of the affected employees who are STILL WITH the company. This problem will just blow right at their faces and below their (management) noses just like Mount Pinatubo. HeHeHe!!!

All I'm saying is, compared to FACTORY WORKERS (the conventional one that is), CALL CENTER EMPLOYEES are actually well off. I compare ra gud ang sueldo sa usa ka agent ug benefits vs. usa ka factory worker.

I compara ug apil ang educational attainment ug job skill requirement. Simple ra man ang point, YES---puede kaayo mag form ug UNION ang mga TAGA CALL CENTER (in theory anyway).

PERO FEASIBLE BA AT THIS POINT? Answer, MURA UG DILI. MAGLISOD PA SA PAGKAKARON.

I agree with you that call centers have to shape up in protecting thier employee's welfare (as if naman they are in such a bad shape to begin with.)

If a certain establishment/firm/center practices unlawful acts towards their employees they should be protected...

naa na ba call center na filan og kaso sa NLRC or sa DOLE? basin kinahanglan lang ni sila og sample... I believe when this manufacturing firms first sprouted in our country... some of them have unlawful labor practices. Â*Pero karo kani sila mga tarong na man. Â*Basin kani ubang call center nag salig lang nga tungod sila ang GIPANGHAMBOG sa atong gobyerno ron... makabuhat na sila og inamaw.

I believe that not all call centers have unlawful practices towards their employees...
