Default Re: I just need one glass to do all around photography

i'm not saying that you're cheapskate

but sometimes we have to support local economy, there are some products(models) on particular brand(specially sigma and canon) that the price difference between amazon prices and local shops are not that much -- on the neighborhood of 2 - 5K

most of the models ( canon/sigma offers ) that are way more expensive on local shops compared to u.s counterpart are the slow moving ones and most of there were old stocks(prices are based from old inventories).

now, check with the new models from local shop and new models from amazon. sometimes you'll amaze their price difference.

i bought my sigma 30 at hidalgo for 24K when it came out, now it's around 18-19K.

for example, from this link http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/shop/6...l_Cameras.html
canon 5D price at $2,199.95. you can get this model from local shops at around 85 - 90K.

at Php 42(41.70 last time i checked) per dollar, sometimes you get a better deal from local shops.

sigma 30mm 1.4 is currently price at $429 w/c will be around 18-19K(depending on how much peso power we'll get at the time of purchase).
you can get this from jt for 19,800.00(jt usually priced it higher compared to their dealers) some local shops will give you this particular model for 18K

on sigma lenses, the lenses that came out from jt's seems fix the issues of backfocusing/front-focusing that are very popular on most photography-related forums.
unlike from shops outside the country.

sometimes we're complaining the lack of accessories(photographic) that can be bought here in cebu, one onced it's available, again we complain that it is price more about a few percent.

sometimes we have to consider also our local economy.

    palit na!

Im using my ZD 70-300mm f2.8 ED-SWD for most of my shots. for back-up, my ZD 40-150mm f3.5 kit-lens..

I don't think i can have it all in one glass. But i can compromise and get it with two..

This is so true! I also own a Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 DC Macro OS lens.

Focusing is very fast with this lens. What really sold me out about this lens is that it is both a wide angle lens and macro lens. At the 17mm focal point, the aperture can be set at maximum f2.8 so that landscape shots look clearer and more colorful. For macro shots, the lens can be set as close as 1 inch from the subject. I am telling you this lens is great! I feel so lucky that I came across this lens at Gizmo - Cybergate Mall last week. This will be my main lens for life! (Btw, my camera is a Nikon D90, just in case some readers are wondering what camera goes with my lens)

Ur using Canon? then canon 18-200 would be the best choice, but if your considering 3rd party brands, u might want to check Tamron 18-270mm...
