If you really want to differentiate yourself and stand out from the fake/average/newbie/reformatboys "techs", you should get the CompTIA A+ certificate. You can charge more, finish the job faster, and customers will trust you better since you know exactly what you're doing. You'll know more than a 100 ways to fix a computer and other peripherals besides "reformatting". You can also prove to your customers your CompTIA A+ is genuine/authentic by going to CompTia Verification Website.

You should definitely charge more than P500, maybe P1000 or higher. Who cares if the "reformatboys" are charging less or even free, they won't last long. One screw-up and they're done.

    ^^Spot on

Lets try to arrive at the rate this way:

@500/client, let's assume you do reformatting in 6 hours (by troubleshooting in 4hours is already bonus) plus 2 hours travelling to and fro the clients place. By that you are technically spending 1 whole day for 1 service. 500 x 25 days/mo (let's say it's a full time job), then you are just receiving the equivalent of 12k for 1 month. An amount which is not enough to feed 2 mouths. You might as well waste your time answering calls in a call center and earn double that.

@1000, it's even way less than what you receive from a full time job as an HP or Dell technician.

cguro maau ani to avoid discrimination pud sa ila ba... let us find a way to help them, like educating them, do trainings and seminars for these techguys...I'm sure all experts here dili lng kalit na himong experts, we also experience sa TAE(Try And Error) method and fortunately we learned and understood the flow. Mas nindot gani mo buhat ta ug voluntary training to newbie/noob, teach them some simple tricks that learned...we must discipline them too in googling and read some computer tricks para dili pud sila mahimong contrabeda, but beda instead...

balik ra sa 500. if naay moingon nga sa shop ok ra if mahal ang magasto kay nag abang pa sila sa place then licensed. Licensed technician or licensed business? i would agree if business. pero kon moingon technician, ambot lang if all of us would agree nga licensed nang naa sa shop. Siguro NCII certified motuo ko for most of them pero sa license dili na. Even some of us who do home service naa man pud tay NCII certification(ako after 4 years of servicing ra ko nagpa certify.hehehe). Kon software gani then moingon licensed ang gi install, naay gidala licensed software installer ang client? if wala the client must pay for a licensed software.

Look at this, if a client goes to a shop then pay let's say 350 as the minimum. Pila ang plete niya from their house to the shop? How much time will the client spend? Bug at ba ang unit? maybe og di lalim pagsige bitbit.

Kon ari ta sa home service. Ibutang lang nato 500. Less hassle sa pag bitbit, while at home pwede pa mobuhat og laing trabaho ang client while we service their computer. Makita pa nila if naa tay gitangtang or giilisan sa ila parts(unless gatanga.hehe).
