    @junpei, if you're an artist in need of a writer.. just PM me. Will be glad to help you in making a good pinoy mangga. And if there is a need to publish it in print or online, I'm also well-connected...

    I have read Tagailog's comments and I find these valid somewhat though to make a pinoy mangga does not solely rely on the style or artwork, a great deal has to do with the essence behind the artwork, the soul which is the story mostly.

    Like for example Darna is undoubtedly a pinoy comic icon. But the original artwork is quite similar to the Western artwork of Wonder Woman. What differentiates Darna from Wonder Woman is not what she looks like, but what she does and by what she says that can be truly said that she's a Filipino in essence.

    ^thanx
    somehow I've laid out a dirty draft of how my story would go, and yes it will be filipino(or at least I think it is). however I'm still going through details an such and school ain't helping one bit. finals is fast approaching. hehehe

    I'll try to post some of the pages one of these days and I'd like people to do some heavy c&c.

    until now I still see Darna as an xcopied version of wonderwoman. hehehe. although her alter ego really shows a life of a typical and the not so typical pinay.

    Darna has an original costume and an original enough storyline by Mars Ravelo. She isn't exactly a Xerox copy of Wonderwoman. Besides there were a lot of superheroines back then, Wonderwoman was just the more prominent.

    In modern terms, Darna was an alien symbiote that existed in the starstone which Narda acquired when she was a young girl in the province. Darna belongs to an alien soldier race whose universal cause was to maintain peace and police order to all the planets and their peoples. Something like the Green Lantern Corps except hotter in skimpy red two pieces.

    Though I've said the story is most important. I wouldn't discount the artwork either. The artwork has to be eye-grabbing and awe-inspiring to make any Pinoy manga/anime good. Coupled that with a credible plot, great.

    @diem: hmmback then?
    reminds me when all the pinoys komiks were of rated X and gore contents, cheap paperbacks, coupled with some teasers from bomba! and yeah, the art reflects that of western influence.

    right now koreans ang Hk peeps developed some kinda unique style they can truly say...well, most likely their own. although influences can heavily point to japan. right now, I'm even more impressed with korean art.

    @junpei
    if I ain't mistaken, that tagailog is from Culture Crash?

    @mabix, back then when? True, the more popular Pinoy comics back in the seventies and eighties were smutty, and gory. Just a sign of the times. Its all about diversity, comics cater to a lot of tastes. Shock material does have an audience. Besides I don't think that the Philippines have a Comic Code Authority like the United States.

    yeah, he's from CC. the pinoy comic that made mark in the comic industry although it only has its share of readers still, the hard fact that alot are attracted to the anime/manga genre with a very intricate side on pinoys made it successful. they parted ways though after releasing a number of volumes.

    still I was hoping we cebuanos could also release something as mainstream as they had accomplished. hmmm,maybe the guys from the comic book art thread could do it.

    perhaps it would be wise to have a better brand name for a manga group rather than the prophetic "culture crash". something that would last.

    [font=times new roman]Alam niyo ba na may mga animes na hilig niyo tulad ng Slayers, Vampire Hunter D ay hindi nagsisimula bilang manga? Minsan, sila'y nagsisimula bilang mga 'lightweight' novels, books na meron manga inspired illustrations.

    Dahil dito na-inspire ako tuloy na i-write ang anime idea ko as a online novel. Entitled 'Bless My Blade', you could read the chapters on frequent posts sa istoryan writers thread!

    ^well as far as most mangakas claim, the concepts are usually taken from a variety of sources even reached to touching kiddie books and twisting those ideas into something unique.
