twinjet- bai i'm about to jump into spending money without the finance officer's approval (aka the wife) and get myself an IKELITE waterhousing for my 20d and a DS-125 strobe to go with it... now my question... what lens would you recommend underwater, ultrawide or standard? or maybe macro? i have to know what is most versatile lens for people photography underwater who are into recreational/fun dives for their souvenirs (for tourist and new to scubadiving) and of course for corals and underwater creatures. i would appreciate some info since i need to by also different lens ports for different lenses... and it will be more expensive if i'll be getting too many lens ports. i have a canon 17-85IS lens for my 20d already will this be enough? thanks in advance for the inputs. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
edwin;
i didn't know u wer into the blue as well.
get a wide angle or macro lens underwater & strobe most expecially.
(Hope u get the approval from the FINANCE Dept; my request is still pending for DSLR housing. hehehe)
am not familiar with canon lenses; maybe we can do some research.
I hope to dive this weekend and hoping to post new photos.
I get back to u soon. splash
bai twinjet,
gamay nalang kulang sa-una mura nakog navy seal hehehe... ive tried scuba, wall climbing, treking, then skydiving... man i was crazy before to try the extreme sports hehehe
i had the chance to go scuba diving again with friends about two weeks ago and saw the potential of making money on underwater photography considering the influx of tourist diri sa cebu. i talked to my friend who has a dive shop and i was thinking of going pro on this one kay daghan na sila nga wedding (events) photograpers hehehe what do you think? it will be fun and i will be making money each time i dive ... i think its not bad hehehe.
one more question... since you seem to emphasize on strobe, is it necessary to have two on board? how about a focus assist light, necessary ba sad ni? i am just assuming the possibilities nga mag hunt ang focusing sa ako lens kung medyo ngitngit sa ilawom
dive safely...![]()
bai twinjet,
finance department has my request for 20d waterhousing pending. however approve na ang ako housing for my pentax optio S5i and a sealife SL960D strobe set for a starter kit for my underwater photography venture. according to my finance department head kini lang una kay tingali unya mapul-an ko medyo mahal ra... good reason![]()
i'm hoping to receive it next weekend and try it dayon. mangayo lang unya ko gamay advice in terms of exposure settings. mostly ang ako dive naara kos 60ft max.
what do you think about my set-up? i hope wala ko masayop sa ako gipalit nga slave strobe fro my P&S digicam. gipalitan lang nako housing ang ako 1-year old nga pentax para dili kaayo dako ug gasto.
Well, its a good setup. Lisud pud mag dala ug expensive camera underwater, delikado sa flood.
Naka experience nami ug flooding. Strand sa wrist strap naipit sa gasket, goodbye PS camera...
Am not familiar w/ ur camera. But I would suggest to shot in Macro or within 2-4ft range...
More than that, I guess its crappy. Also shoot in shallower depth, to allow natural light on your subject.
Ngit-ngit na sa 60' pero depende sa visibility pud. Hope to see ur picture soon.
Bdway, wa ko ka dive last month... bz sa trabaho....
my first underwater shots
