At least, we have DECENT and HIGH PAYING jobs. We are thankful enough na sakto among gibuhat ug wala mi NAMORIKAT.. If this is the case, then I, MYSELF WOULDNT BE CAUGHT DEAD being A STUDENT from UP or SAN BEDA..kung ingon ani naman lang ko ka hilas parehas aning tawhana..then I'd rather not go to school at all than being such an arrogant person..
very true maam snussy..as long as you have a decent job and you are exercising professionalism on your craft, then there is really nothing to be ashamed of..

anywayz..what's wrong with working in a call center, manufacturing company, garbage recycling plant..etc??...as long as you are working LEGALLY/earning DECENTLY then there is no such thing as being caught dead...the purpose of your UP or DIVINE MERCY COLLEGE diploma will only make sense if you can convert it to MONEY..and working in a call center or any other company is really not a bad idea since yu are earning from yur diploma in a legal way...

i once read this article from POPULAR SCIENCE mag, that the most unusual & filthy job in the world is that of a SCIENTIST who graduated from YALE/HARVARD whose job is to collect FRESH URINE sample from an apes/gorilla..sometimes this scientist will end up being splattered with a urine in the process, but it's just ok, since their profession calls for it.

now who is being caught dead here?

<quote>ok include nako UP ug San Beda if you. Sorry lang ha, kay only people from the school's I've mentioned ang naka interact nako sa work and daily activities diri. And yup, most people from these schools wouldn't be caught dead in a call center (which means to say I'm not from the industry too).

Question lang ang ka at par anang La Salle, Ateneo, UP sa Cebu di ba San Carlos (am Carolinian), USJ-R, UP Cebu-- then they in Cebu would want to work in a call center? Ka sad ana uy, for sure there are other fields where can be better employed. </quote>

u know what,if ur a carolinian, why diss cebu?i mean,u studied here for God's sake and your dissing the "southern people"?

    Hahay here's the logic:

    Claimed Level Standard of Education:

UP Dil, ATENEO, LASALLE is equal to USC, USJ-R, UP Cebu

    The difference?

Grads of UP Dil, ATENEO, LASALLE will most probably NOT work or WANT to work in a CALL CENTER.

On the otherhand Grads of USC, USJ-R, UP Cebu will most probably WANT to work in ca CALL CENTER.

Same level of educational standards, different career aspirations. That's ALL.[br]Date Posted: January 05, 2006, 05:47:17 PM_________________________________________________M y point lang is there are jobs outside the CALL CENTER industry that pays just as well if not better and are just as professionally rewarding. Case in point ME.

A USC BSBA grad Batch 2002 now a Business Development and PLANNING Manager for the 2nd Largest Real Estate Company in the country at the age of 25.

And yes, I earn more than you guys.

    well, good for you brian_d...

sa karong panahona man gud, kung asa'y mas daghan opportunities e-grab lang jud daun.. lisud naman gud kaau karon mangita ug work na ma-apply nimo ang imong natun-an sa skwelehan... not all mn sad na natun-an sa skwelehan ma-apply sad nimo sa work... and the call center industry is giving out these opportunities sa katong walay trabaho, may edad na pero willing ghapon mo-trabaho and mga undergrads... practical naman lang gud karon ang mga tawo tungod kay dili cla gusto magutman cla ug ilang pamilya, mao nang mas mo-prefer na lang cla na mo-apply or work sa call center kay mas dako ang percentage na maka-trabaho ug maka-kwarta cla... AMEN.

    That's a valid point, Tootskie.

Ey brian, I am a graduate of the top schools you mentioned in Manila and I work in a call center. You do not have to make your own concoction of such difference in education standards or career aspirations. Career growth is a personal choice in whatever industry. You might be earning well for now in the real estate industry. However, by the sound of your words, you feel insecure. Is that because the real estate industry in general exhibits a slower growth...and will still be affected in the next 10 to 15 years? Your industry has already matured, thus stagnant. Its relative importance has also declined. The call center industry, on the other hand, is a faced-paced, high energy one that for sure is absent in your industry.

Well then, magkano ba sinusweldo mo at ganun ka magsalita? Sigurado ka bang mas malaki sweldo mo sa amin? Baka kc allowance lang yan dito... hehehe

Well was a management trainee and was rotated to manufacturing, retail, airline and now real estate for the conglomerate that I work for. FYI, I just assumed this post six months ago as part of my intra-conglomerate promotion. So it's not like I grew in the industry from the very start.

Pardon the English as my hands type faster than my thoughts hence the typo, spelling errors. I'll try to do edit them from now on. Anyway, it's not a slugfest of who earns more and which industy is more mature than the rest.

What's important is that the Call Center industry is giving people a chance both in Cebu and Manila an opportunity not only to good employment prospects but more importantly a career ladder to climb up. Since the industry is new, its easier to get promoted and move up.

Good luck na lang to all of you.
