China has always presented the Yuan as a fixed rate currency whose value is determined by government, so how can the world economy be fooled when it already knows the Yuan is not a free-float? Your statement smacks of ignorance.

Instead of engaging in ad-hominem attacks, why don't you educate yourself about the currency wars so you can be enlightened as to why people here are complaining:

    UP economist bats for gov

I would rather be a fan of a filipino than be a fanboy of a regime that killed millions of its own people and continue to curtail the rights even on their own fanboys and to this very moment..

That is the "attractiveness" for BPOs to do business with our country. They open new branches in newly established PEZA zones in order to avoid taxes so don't kid yourself.
Seriously? I'm not even an expert on the PH economy, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a populace of young workers with money to spend is good for the economy. The companies themselves may not be taxed, but what about the employees, who, without the BPO sector, would've otherwise been left jobless, or at the very least, settling for minimum wages?

And pray tell, where and what do these OFW families spend their money on? Last time I checked, basic necessities, utilities, even amusement and recreational activities all had VAT. You're delusional if you think the Philippine economy isn't buoyed by OFW remittances and FDIs from the BPO sector. You essentially have a steady stream of billions coming each year, which in turn, are being spent and invested into this country.

You seemed to lament on the status quo; I assumed you operated some sort SME and your interests were affected by the rise of the BPO industry. Mea culpa.
