Wasn't this the conflict that woke India up from its Gandhism? Anyway thanks for bringing this up. This is a good example how China deals with their disputes. They strike, then immediately call for a cease-fire thereby eliminating further actions their enemy will have from another foreign power allied to them. It's a limited and conservative way to win battles and gain objectives.

In the Sino-Indian War, India was forced to asked help from the US to attack PLA ground forces in Aksai Chin by air and since the Chinese had already declared ceasefire, US military action was halted.
