sakto jud! add lang ako...
don't take it against the critics, instead try to learn from it and improve your technique.
join photoclubs, aside from techniques that you can learn, you can as well borrow or use their tools (lenses and cams), you'll be surprised that some shots taken from the expensive gears can be replicated by what you already have, change lang ka settings etc.
don't be afraid to take lots of shots, try different angles and distances and don't be afraid to experiment. there are a lot of materials over the internet - youtube, photo galleries, national geographic photos, etc.
camera gears don't define the beauty of your shots, don't buy too many unnecessary gears, master the equipments that you have and maximize jud ang capabilities.

Sayon ra kaayo masteron ang technical.. aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure.
Pero para nako ang pinakalisod ug pinaka importante i-master ang composition. Experience ug talent ra ang maka hatag improvement sa composition.
I disagree with those who say stay away from photoshop. For beginner photographers, it is even more important that you know photoshop than if you're a pro because most of your photos are going to need it. Don't use it as a crutch, but use it to fix your bad photos because you're going to have lots of them. At the very least, use the crop function to fine-tune composition or the straighten tool. I like shooting RAW so I can fix minor exposure issues. It shouldn't be used as a crutch, however it's a useful tool for beginners.

i agree bro, pero actually ma correct nmo ang mga basic nga sayop sa photography kung imo lang bantayan. like fixing the horizon, framing, WB and saturation if you have enough accessories and gears. pwde na nmo ma avoid ang pg global fixing sa photoshop/adobe camera raw. pwde ra sguro mabutang nmo ang watermarks and border
dili ko against sa photoshop/post processing ha, CS5 user baya ko and Photomatix hehehe... pero para nako lang kung gnahan ka ug SOOC bantay gyud ka sa shooting and naa gyud ang mga accessories and steady tripod (for landscape)
