i'll agree to this when they provide us with more than just globe and pldt as ISPs. We should have at least 4 ISP companies so that we will not be slaves to the monopoly or bi-poly, if you must. I don't consider bayantel as an ISP because they are hardly comparable to the services of Globe and PLDT.

The reason why internet media is so popular in the US is because the speeds are amazingly fast. What's more, Filipino surfers would tune in to streamed media more often if the PHILIPPINES wasn't blacklisted by some streaming media providers i.e. hulu.com

I will agree to this if actual speeds of internet service providers are actually WORTH the MONEY we pay for. In the US, cable television, telephone service and internet connection are all bundled to a low low cost of USD40 at last check. And the speed being provided is fast enough for hi-def video calling via skype and 720p webcam.

I will agree to this when our congressmen have the balls to actually come up with an Anti-trust law that actually works to kill monopolies when the masses are being exploited beyond contempt.

I will agree to this when someone in the Philippines sets up a Filipino version of Netflix and actually worth subscribing to.

Ehhh? This is ALREADY covered in current Philippine IPR laws--it's just not being IMPLEMENTED and ENFORCED properly, just like ANYTHING else in this pathetic country.

This line is stupid. That would be like saying we need to build bridges in a town where there are no rivers. Even if this were to happen, the government does not have enough time or resources to acquire the said technology.

I do not condone piracy. But due to corporate greed, I find stuff in piracy much much more convenient and not because that it's free. Piracy is bad, but what's much worse is that people are making money out of piracy or as we say, the people who sell pirated media in Colon or anywhere in the country. Direct Downloading in the country is nowhere profiteering, its sharing. Nobody pays a dime, there are just people who abuse it to sell it.

In the end, the laws are already there. Then there's this another law, which I doubt will be enforced like the previous law. And if they do enforce this law well, well there's always TrueCrypt.

That's because bandwidth is expensive in SG bay. You download a lot of stuff, a lot of it reflects in your monthly bills. Unlike here in the Philippines, we have unlimited internet so...

All you have to do is to register a VPN account from a company who has VPN server in countries with unrestricted internet access and you can bypass all of these download blockers/filters.

...Actually, SG and PH are almost the same the only difference lang is that ang Law. kung naay underground business ang ph naa sad ang sg.

...Going back to the topic, speaking of practicality matters, YES! I agree, mas dapat unahon jud ang mga taxes, wages sa mga employees, and the market pag-fix kay mao nay naka-dala ug kagubot sa mga lumolupyo. Law has also plays a very important role, dapat naa jud concrete nga Law na mo guide sa mga 3 essential things para sa mga residente not just by starting sa downloading law.
