    it's so expensive.
for the price of either D700 or 5D body.

    i can buy a Leica D-LUX 5, a Macbook Pro 13 and an IPAD 2. Just a perspective.

    and the handsome 70-200 IS F/2.8 Mk2
muapil ko ha... pasagdi lang basta mushare lang ko hehehe

    FYI yob,

Nikon's 24-70mm is generally considered as better than the Canon 24-70mm
ang Nikon 16-35mm sad is on par or better than the 17-40mm
and ang 70-200mm IS II uhhmmm kani toss up or murag mas ok ang sa Canon hehe

if kana lang mga Zoom lenses ang imo iconsider you could basically go to either brand and I am sure you will be happy.

to the OP please consider the features of each camera, kung unsa nga feature set ang tanaw nimo mas needed nimo..

    Pros with Canon 5DMKII
    -Video is better
-Aftermarket support is a lot lot better
    -high MP

    Pros with Nikon D700
    -very good AF
    - very good solid build
    -very good high ISO perf
    -very customizable

My only complaint with Nikon is local support, Canon has a service center right here in Cebu... sa Nikon mangita pa kag asa ka mag paayo hehe

    IMHO lang ni ako ha

L lenses really intended for FF cameras ( corner performance ). Now you can maximize the glass of an L lens with a full-frame coverage.

what are your lenses by the way?
i only have the 24-105 as my walk around,17-40 as my wide and 70-200 f4 IS as my zoom.i considered buying the f4 IS for its weight.

nice! i'm more interested with the 17-40mm since it will be a true 17mm with FF

You're using these on a crop body now? If you decide to get a 5D Mk2, you'll see a big difference in output from your crop body using these same lenses.

But what do you like to shoot? If landscapes and models, I'd choose the 5D. If sports and wildlife, I'd choose the D700.

The Nikon D700, resolution and video capability aside, trumps the 5Dmk2 in every way.

btw, the 24-70 canon - nikon lens test.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens Image Quality

i seems the canon looks better in this sharpness test
    - i think this is the older nikon 24-70, the recent nano version could be much better
    - the canon 24-70 is an older design
    - the nikon is more expensive than the canon

    anyway, both are great lenses

TS will be crazy if he doesn't buy the 5Dmk2, given the L lenses he already have. LOL
