it pays to be part of the ateneo system: one on one focused training, complete athletic equipments and good basketball exposure... some notable ADMU alumni sometimes drop by to teach and play pick-up ball, the likes of LA tenorio, Enrico V, JC intal.. It's different in UAAP and NCAA, blue chip recruits from all over the philippines square off in the court, you can spell the difference when it comes to being a team player and a high scorer...
Right now, crowded jud ang point guards sa ateneo..Monfort,Ravena,Tiongson and another point guard from la salle...He can"t really show his talent in ADMU.
ngano can't man? if he works hard he'll earn his minutes... being an athlete requires patience and hardwork, dile tungod sa superstar sa inyong lugar then pag balhin nimo sa la.in lugar superstar treatment pud ka? dile oi... parehas gud steve nash when he was a rookie murag mga 10 mins per game lang kay daghan kaayo pg pud ang suns ato like kevin johnson, sam cassell, sunod jason kidd... pero iya gipa nindot iya stats ma.o to ni saka iya minutes
in all honesty, the best thing Mark Tallo could have done was to check first which other schools would be able to recruit him before leaving ADMU.
Him not having a school and its the start of classes already puts him in a difficult negotiating position and other schools will be reluctant to get him because of his impatience.
I wouldve advised that he seek other schools first and make sure he has a place to transfer to before leaving ADMU because his life is not just about basketball... At his age, he needs good education and Ateneo could have given him that if he was more patient with the system.
his decision gives me the impression that he doesn't really care about the education he's getting just as long as he gets to showcase his talent.
Sakto unta kay he gets a good education aside from a varsity spot with the team because if his basketball career doesn't work out, naa pa syay fall back (Ateneo Education)
As a young college athlete and preparing for the pro , it's really important to get more training as much as possible . They need to know who they are in terms of what plays and system suits them most . Some players just go and play for the school because of its reputation and they tend not to analyze whether this school is the best place to develop and learn .
This is a common issue even in the NCAA . Players will just commit to Kentucky , Duke , or North Carolina because of the success the team achieved ... but down the road , they realized the system is not for them . Then you will hear they quit , and/or transferred to multiple schools because of their bad decision .
THEY ARE OVERSOLD ON THE "EXPOSURE" .
As for Tallo , maybe he made a good decision , and maybe not . According to his mom's post , he never had a good playing time ... in the pre-season . That should be an indication that Norman Black is either uninterested on Tallo or maybe he already realized Tallo doesn't fit into his system .
Basketball-wise , it's better to quit . Academic-wise , if you already have a guaranteed 4-year scholarship at ADMU , not a good decision . But from the mother's post here , she's hinting that her son is preparing for a basketball career .
I don't watch UAAP , but just wanna ask , how good really is Tallo compared to other ADMU players ? What is his work-ethics during practice ?
As of now, Kiefer, Ateneo's phenom is better than tallo, but not that far in my opinion. This is becuase of Kiefer's experience in big leagues (UAAP) while tallo shines only here in Cebu (CESAFI). In terms of talent and court vision, maybe they are equal or if not, but not that not huge. Tallo really needs time to polish his talent.
