There are way too many people running for President. What the Philippines needs is RUNOFF ELECTIONS. They learned from our mistake in Indonesia, that is why when they democratized they decided not to copy our system of crazy 7-way standoffs. Now they have Bang Bang Yudihono, one of the best Presidents they've ever had who is actually serious about corruption and has made a dent in it (considering, Indonesia was always the top three most corrupt countries in Asia, and now we are more corrupt than they are, that is quite an achievement!)
With Noynoy, Villar, Teodoro, De Castro, Estrada, etc etc all running for President we are virtually guaranteeing that our next President will again not have a majority mandate. What is the point of our democracy when all of our Presidents since the fall of Marcos have not garnered more than 50% of the vote? That's not democracy..
