Turkish club hopes to sign former NBA star Iverson
ANKARA, Turkey (AP)—The coach of Turkish basketball team Besiktas Cola Turka hopes to finalize negotiations with former NBA scoring champion Allen Iverson soon.
Burak Biyiktay says Tuesday the Istanbul club has offered a contract to Iverson’s manager for a one-year stint in Turkey.
Biyiktay says the former NBA MVP would bring a “new vision to the team.” He says “Iverson is a great trademark and would be the biggest name to come to Turkey.”
Gary Moore, Iverson’s personal manager, has said there is strong interest from both sides to work out a deal that would send the 11-time All-Star overseas.
Iverson is 17th on the NBA’s career scoring list with 24,368 points over a 14-year career.
