yes sir...wood is fine medium. once in a while i also work with bolo (sundang) or knife handles to rifle stocks. i must admit i am yet to learn exquisite finishes using locally available materials.

Ako, cge lang gihapon hinay2x buhat ug projects. Just done with a bigger pergola last month then break kay busy sa work. Karon ga-order na pud ko ug lumber and plan to build a solid wood patio table this weekend and maybe a built in nicho bookcase during the holidays.

Nalingaw pud ko organize sa mga tools. Here's a pic of my tool cabinet already.

a sexy tool collection you've got there bro. ask lang ko, unsa mga tool bits you use most often with your router? millimeter na imo tool bits or inches?

bro john_yo, i disagree with you that the hobby is pricey. hehe. i started woodworking projects about 10 years ago and have already accumulated a lot of hand tools. i shared the passion with my dad who also has lots of tools. hehe. so now when i constructed our own house, i just do all the woodworking stuffs like making kitchen cabinets, mouldings, door casings, closets, tables, etc. so i guess, what we had paid before for the tools and the waste! (lots of wasted wood) are recovered because we dont have to pay expensive labor for the carpenters. hehe

i just came from budget builders and ordered some yakal and lauan for this weekend's pergola project. i also dropped by belmont for the 6" screws and anchor bolts. i will update you for the progress and pictures. im so excited. hehe

@DM, yes, I hope they have good lumber. nice baya ila price compared to armourwood and the exorbitantly high priced matwood

tell you what.. there are too many types of species, cuts, and seasoned... if naa lang ka ngari sa pinas.. use lauaan (AD) air dried not KD kiln dry.. applied lang na ang KD for exporting.. but if nahan gyud ka perfect kd is one best option.. TOOLS
there are too many hand tools na maka buhat lang sa uban.. sample do you know pwede ma gamit ang router with plundger para himoon nimo ug planer? heheheheh so no need for you to buy planer.. do you know pwede sad nimo ma gamit ang router act like jig saws.. stuff like that.. so kung kabalo mo sa pag gamit ug pag buhat ug mga jigs barato ra na.. and mas maayo ug kita kita ra ang mag buhat sa ato kaugalingon balay or funiture...

you mentioned cabinet making.. kitchen cabinet making.. have you heard 32mm system? do you know that tanan mga euro hinge shoot kaayo na sa 32mm system.. drawer slides, hinges etc.. ..

about finishing... be careful what you apply.. it should be led free.. if you want to know more on chemicals ask lang sa sparko, inchem, beker acroma, and miratone they are locally suppliers.. pangitaa lang sa directory
