there are some basis though.. people wouldn't just come up with a document or proof without any further investigation whatsoever that was being done..just my 2 cents..

@bcasabee. yes you are right. Christ is God, and with that knowledge and with all that power, He became a human for our sake. Bound with all the weakness of being a human being, and all for our sake right?. Just like the temptation in the dessert , he endure all of it without using any divine power, to test his human side. He does not need to do that, but he did why? to understand what it feels like to be human, to feel , love (human love) , compassion all this he endure to understand what it feels like to be human. This is the historical part of him. The divine part of him? no question about that He is GOD the SON.
about studying and practicing, i think its not synonymous. Its two different things.
parallel ayo ang teachings sa gnostic christians and hinduism... especially the part where they believe in a God that is both female and male. hindus believe that Shiva is part man and part woman and often depicted as such just like the God of the gnostics who is "duality seeking unity." with both masculine and feminine elements.
ex. of a particular gnostic sects prayer who claims to have received a secret tradition from Jesus through James and through Mary Magdalene [who the Gnostics revered as consort to Jesus]. Members of this group prayed to both the divine Father and Mother:
`From Thee, Father, and through Thee, Mother, the two immortal names, Parents of the divine being, and thou, dweller in heaven, humanity, of the mighty name...'
i got this from an online gnostic site.
so basically if somebody finds a solid evidence that Jesus christ went to india and studied with the hindus as well as with buddhist monks then the claims of the gnostics about the truth of their belief will be solidified... and to be honest i wont be surprise if somebody finds an evidence. as for me i'm quite convince that jesus christ and St. Issa is 1 person.
this is part of an ancient hindu manuscript that Nicolas Notovitch translated and published... you'll be the judge.
'1 The earth has trembled and the heavens have wept because of a great crime which has been committed in the land of Israel.
2 For they have tortured and there put to death the great and just Issa, in whom dwelt the soul of the universe,
3 Which was incarnate in a simple mortal in order to do good to men and to exterminate their evil thoughts
4 And in order to bring back man degraded by his sins to a life of peace, love, and happiness and to recall to him the one and indivisible Creator, whose mercy is infinite and without bounds.
5 Hear what the merchants from Israel relate to us on this subject.'

@shoeless.....are you familiar with advaita vedanta?
gwyn: not really... i think it's a school of thought or something to that effect... they're non dualistic right? i think the non dualistic part of it is a state instead of a belief or something. advaita is a sort of like a neutral state.
what about it ate gwyn?
by the way, in Islam Jesus is called "Isa"
and in hindu, they say that Jesus is St. Issa...
if i am not mistaken hasta sa buddhist pali cannon bro St Issa sad...Originally Posted by shoeless_rebel

bro...comment lang ko additionally about Jesus being God and at the same time being human....when He was about to be crucified....he prayed and even begged that if it is possible "to take this cup away from me"...He weakened and He got scared...He showed His human side....and even hanging on the cross one of His last words was "Father , father why have you forsaken me"......Originally Posted by bcasabee
