gud luck sa heat issues....hehe
sa ako kay ati man ko.. but depende lang sa ako type of work.. games pud..![]()
i use nvidia....i don't see the advantages and disadvantages between the two,but mine certainly serves me well...
OT: well, so far my VC performs well... satisfied pa man ko sa akong 9800GTX+. hehehe...![]()
NVidia, most definitely. Although ATI has been churning out good budget cards.
kung high end mga current top of the line ky ATI 4870x2
ATI vs Nvidia? (the following is also true for AMD vs Intel)
(IMHO)
Performance - most of the performances are negligible. gamay ra man difference.
Price - sometimes it's nvidia, sometimes its ati.
Compatibility/Stability- i dont know which one wins. but both companies strive to make the customers happy. i think its an urband legend that "AMD+ATI is better than AMD+Nvidia" or "Intel+Nvidia is better than Intel+ATI".
so tie.
Value - hmm. this is tough when buying a new a new video card. really hard to know which gives the most value. Nvidia shines when you buy a second hand. nvidia wins (in my opinion). much like intel vs amd. most consumers prefer to buy intel... it's probably because of the next reason.
Brand (Naming conventions) -
how can you tell which ATI brand/version is better just by looking at their brand names?
example:
which of the following is better??
ATI Radeon HD 4850
ATI Radeon X1900 XT CF
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
ATI Radeon HD 3650
ATI Radeon X1950 GT
ATI Radeon HD 3450
Answer: above is ordered by rank from highest to lowest. (top is better)
except for below which i cant really tell. (may i say - wth?)
Radeon RV790 (their newest brand - to counter nvidia's GTX)
Mobility FireGL V5700
ATI R9550
ATI R3650
ATI X1650Pro
you cant really tell just by looking. You have to do a significant research and look at nvidia equivalent.
lets look at nvidia...
their new GeForce GTX 280 (their newest brand)
Nvidia Geforce - 9800 ?? (GT, GTX, SLI, GTS, whatever)
Nvidia Geforce - 9600
Nvidia Geforce - 8800
Nvidia Geforce - 8600
Nvidia Geforce - 8500
Nvidia Geforce - 7950
Nvidia Geforce - 7800
Nvidia Geforce - 7600
Nvidia Geforce - 7300
Nvidia Geforce - 6800
Nvidia Geforce - 6600
Nvidia Geforce - 5500
Now, simply looking at the numbers, you know what to look for,
and for your info, the numbers mean something.
1st digit is the generation, 2nd digit is how fast they are (or what class/category they belong).
example - 7800, 8800, 9800 - these are all of the same speed category, their 1st digit determines their generation.
in 8500 vs 7950 - the 8500series may be slower than the 7950 but 8500 uses the latest technology.
just by naming conventions NVIDIA(and Intel) are the winner.
So who wins?
Performane - (tie)
Price - (tie)
Compatibility/Stability - (tie)
Value - nvidia sligtly
Base on naming/branding - NVIDIA (and Intel) wins by a huge margin.
NVIDIA - are are the best! ^_^
so, research gyud if you want to buy ATI. nvidia - simple lang - just look at the brand.

ATI Crossfire all the way. Ultimate solution for multi GPU platform. Ultimate scalability. So ATI.
Although NVidia is dropping their prices recently.
