sir, i think the best move is to consult a lawyer. always keep the cheque for evidence in case you file a lawsuit against the owner of the cheque.

bro, under the law, there can be several cases that you can file. it can be ESTAFA, BP 22, etc. kung sa criminal aspect. sa civil case, you can have collection for a sum of money plus damages, plus attorney's fees. although, once you file a criminal case, apil na diha ang civil liability coz a person who is criminally liable is also civilly liable. if you prosper in your criminal case, you can have him/her jailed. i am lawyer by profession. if you have any other questions/concerns, you can always PM me.
