If the govt. is really serious in eliminating the rebels then why not targeting their leaders not just 2 commanders?
are they(AFP) still fighting for our freedom or for the interest of one person?

War is business. All out war na unta to ni Erap, pero unsay gibuhat nila? Gi impeach. Gihulat na lang unta tog mahurot ng mga rebeldeha na, usa nila gipalingkod si GMA. hehehe
in my opinion, the government isn't firm or has its own stand on what to do with these rebels coz they are also thinking of those people na madamay. kapila na sad sila muingon ug all out war, pero nothing has changed. mao ra man gihapun. mu-respect sila sa mga religious practices sa Muslim and will have a cease fire for a day, pero do these rebels respect us Christians? i dunno. it's hard to say man sad nga hutdon na jud dapat na cla, pero I just hope mahuman na ang tanan. kay nagtika-dugay, the situation is becoming worse. pero yeah, the question is HOW? bsan ang ato armed forces, dli naman sad makasaligan. but not all, of course. pero how would we know who to trust then?
This has an interesting point and a close one to nailing it really.
Let's just say that everything that happened and will continue to happen in the MILF/MNLF/ARMM/Islamic Factions (let's not generalize it to Mindanao since it [conflict] doesn't happen to the whole of Mindanao but to territories only defined by their strong advocacy for autonomy) is because of business.
We are living in the times when business (no matter how legit or how clever they are) rules over what is ideal and moral. As such, the Philippines has the kind of government that pursues anything that profits it. Negotiations, peace projects, arm upgrades, etc...sadly, war is still one of the most lucrative endeavor. What better way to raise immediate funds than to declare a threat in the security of the government and its governed lands. And eradicating the existence of enemies within a territory that is controllable means no more reason for emergency funding to an alarming extent. On the separatists side, money comes from what's handed behind every battlefield engagement cover. Without the government and other war employers, they will not exist and will not even bother to wage war without enough funding and reason.
When will this end? When all the transaction is over. Why is it not the whole Mindanao island is in war against the Republic of the Philippines? It's because only certain parts in Mindanao are declared battlefield and most urbanized parts in Mindanao and the rest of the Philippines are considered safety country of the separatists' family.
I would say: There's no such thing as ancestral domain like what the separatists cry for waging war because ancestral domain can no longer be defined in the context of our present times.
