@P-Chan: Ha ha ha. I just chatted with a fellow Istoryan last night about not needing a D-SLR to shoot photos. I own a Canon A630 and I'm learning photography with it. But, I do feel that I'd need a D-SLR one of these days. I know this thread is not about P&S versus D-SLR.

I think what the thread starter simply meant was

Some people buy things to brag about them (e.g., Hey, look at my new gizmo). When our landlord visits to inspect the apartment he's renovating, he takes his shirt off to show off his holstered gun because some of his workers stole from him (but he can't tell who) so he's just silently warning them. I'm not sure if he's bragging or he's actually thinking it would prevent future theft. I can't tell but if I were to guess, it would be the latter.

My wife actually has the same attitude towards some 'wealthy' or 'pretending-to-be wealthy' individuals. I'm not sure if it's envy or genuine irritation on her part. I can probably say envy (but don't let my wife know I shared that, he he he). If somebody were to ask me if I cared if people have the coolest gadgets, coolest toys what would I truthfully say. I'd say, I really don't care. I have other things to worry about. So if people want to brag about their wealth, no problem with me. I have poor friends, I have rich friends back in high-school. My poor friends wish they had money. My rich friends wish they had real friends. Do I want more money? Who doesn't? Will I buy the most expensive D-SLR if I were to win the lotto, not exactly (kuripot ako e, he he he) but would I buy the toys I wish I can afford, you betcha. Will I brag about them? You betcha. But would I say, "Ako naa ani, kamo wala kay datu ko, purdoy mo." Of course, I won't. I wasn't raised that way.

Will this thread die a natural death? I think so. There's no point arguing. Would people stop buying things and brag about them just because one person has an opinion about their behavior? I don't think so. So, kung ako ninyo, go back to taking more photos na lang oi. Balita nako naa daw gi-plano na nude photography session, can I join? Pila amot bayad model?

ang pasabot d i ani kung mouli ko sa cebu and nagabitbit ko ug D300 with nikkor 70-200 f2.8 hambog nako na newbie? hahaha i dont get the point unsay pasabot sa nagpost ani if nasuya siya or naa cya personal na kalagot. even the PRO start as newbie and have their own whishlist, unsaon man sa uban tawo d na nila kinahanglan ibutang sa ila whishlist kai makapalit man sila dayun. ang hambog is kanang taka taka ra yaw yaw then wala d i to cya camera or any to brag. well if you ask me about D80 i can tell you a lot of stuff kai mao man ni ako gear but it doesnt mean nanghambog ko. ang if you ask me about canon i cant tell you anything kai nikon user ko but it doesnt mean na bugo ko sa camera. u got my point? there are people who love to talk what they have and let them be. ana na jud na sila. but pointing as emphasizing as NEWBIES as pahambog ra ang agi, i dont think so. mas daghan nahilig karon sa photography kai mas barato ang affordable. why barato and affordable? kai u dont need film and u dont need to develop para makakita ka sa imo mga kuha. bug at at first but in a long run barato kai d man ka mupalit ug film.

lastly, tanan PROs niagi sa newbies and even PROs n newbies daghan pod hambog in any field. for me ok ra ng mga tawo na hambog basta nagbitbit ug D300 with Nikkor 70-200 f2.8, kung wala ka ana then ayaw nalang panghambog. hahaha sorry guys mao ra na ako dream gear n #1 sa ako whishlist

somehow nakasabot pod baya ko sa feeling sa topic starter.

a situation pag elementary or highschool.. naa koy schoolmate nga permi mag sul-ob ug sneakers sa school (although bawal). mga mahalon nga sneakers pa jud (Jordan XI, XII etc) pinadala gikan states. but later we found out that dili diay sya kahibalo mo-duwa ug basketbol. so naka-ingon ko nga pure pa-choy² ug hinambog ra jud to iyaha. maka-IRRITATE & sagol pod ENVY akong na-feel kay ako intawn mag tsinelas or mag tiniil ra mag basketbol sa plaza.

that was when i was still a kid. pero KARON nga matured na ta, kahibalo na jud cguro ta mo-adjust or mo-sabot sa ubang tao oi. if makakita ta ug tao nga nag hinambog sa iyang gadget, smile na lang. most probably immatured pa tong tawhana, kita na lay sabot. Dili pod nato ipakita nga na-suya ta kay mogara ra hinuon to sya, mosamot hinuon ka-irritating on your part. @TS, at least napagawas na nimo imong mga hinanakit...hehe

If they can afford it - okay ra man.. it's their money. But then, it's just a waste of a device ug pirme ra sila na AUTO and setting everytime sila mo shoot.

I, myself, own an entry-level DSLR .. bought it last year. I knew a bit about photography before I made the purchase - I actually took a photography class 10 yrs ago as an elective (college credit). But the reason for me getting the camera is to be able to take better pictures. Especially sa akong mga anak.
