The mayor just read verbatim a piece of speech prepared by his speech writer without any objectivity and sensitivity. Did he understood what he's reading? Just asking.

the arrogance is there. The message was delivered in an honest and straightforward way. Tomas and this guy are the same. Thier arrogance are their strength and weakness at the same time.

I like the part where he welcomes everyone as long as they live with accordance to their way. Walay gara.ay ba. Some foreigners are crossing the line of being visitors in our country and they think they own us.

Foreigners are our guests. Regardless of how they act, they should be treated with respect and we should give them the best impression we can about our country and our people. Otherwise they will stop coming to our country and stop bringing in their money which we sorely need. Sometimes I find it surprising what people consider arrogant. Just because they are rich and seem arrogant to you does not mean they really are arrogant. Most of the time, when people say that about foreigners (especially against Koreans) it is only because they are jealous, not really because the foreigners are arrogant.
