The official Facebook fanpage of Warner Brothers Philippines finally replied to question if they will distribute the live-action adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin here in the Philippines and the answer is something fans didn't expect to hear.
... and to the numerous folks asking. We just learned this morning that we do not have rights to release Rurouni Kenshin here in the Philippines.
looks like magpa-abot lang ta's illegal download through the torrent next year.

.,no choice jud..internet jud ta mag depende ani..nice raba kaayo ang trailer and showing na adtung august 25..(
all i can say is:
ARRRRGGGG!!! its a pirates life!!
toink, ayaw ng warner bros kumita sa pinas? sus!
a very nice movie! action scenes were very good! the movie did justice to the manga/anime. i hope makakita tanan sa movie and WB phils should strongly negotiate about local release.
one of the reviewers who already watched the movie in japan with subs:
"Even if you have high expectations (if you followed the manga/anime) I think you won't be disappointed at all. The story ends with Kenshin's battle with Jin'e. Aoshi's character was left out of the plot, but the other Oniwabanshin characters were there.
The movie was well-cast. I loved the portrayals of Sanosuke (spot on!) Saito, Jin-e, & Kaoru.
The lead actor absolutely nailed all the nuances of Kenshin's character from innocent buffoon to killer Battousai mode. He trained intensely in swordplay and is a B-boy so he was able to pull off all the athletic moves in the movie. As the other poster said, the battle scenes were stunning, best sword play scenes from any samurai movie ever and they didn't even show the best moves in the trailers so you have tons to look forward to in the actual movie.
Second, the movie tried to be faithful to the era so the set design, costumes were more realistic. It was a good blending of anime elements and real-life.
Of course they had to change the story line here and there to make everything fit into 2hrs&19 mins of film but the spirit of the original story line was maintained, I believe.
And whatever complaints you may have, seeing Hiten Mitsurugi battoujutsu live will definitely give you goosebumps and make it all worth it "
another viewers quote:
"THE MOVIE WAS SOOOO GOOD!!! better than i expected! for sure it would win awards for its artistry in its plot and also the VERY VERY VERY NICE SWORDFIGHTS!!.. the rurouni kenshin movie was translated into a realistic way of swordfight, yet you would notice how spectacular the fight scenes appear and also they translated Hiten Mitsurugi Style in a breath taking manner...
The actors were also very good.. Kudos to Takeru Sato who played Kenshin Himura, he played his role perfectly.. Also to Emi Takei who played Kaoru, she was very beautiful.. Their tandem made the movie very much worth it.
The Plot covers the first arc of the Anime, i would not spoil everyone about it so maybe research it yourself...
The movie itself had English Subtitles so its very nice for me as a foreigner to watch the movie here in Tokyo..
overall... This gives hope that good cinematography can turn anime into a very wonderful, beautiful and entertaining Live Action movie... I would not be surprised if this movie would win any major awards internationally. Very much comparable from award winning Japanese themed movies like Memoirs of a Geisha or Letters from Iwo Jima.. I know that this movie would be released internationally, I just dont know about the dates of its international release. If it does, then I would watch it 10 times more!
btw.. Rurouni Kenshin is far better than the Avengers.."
sus, makasuya sa post ng nakakita na sa rurouni kenshin sa japan, hays...
