TIP: wherever the wire thickness changes, it is necessary to add a fuse. assuming you're using 4ga wire as your main power/ground wire, and that you split this at a power distro into 4 8ga cables, each of the 8ga cables need to be fused (see how its convenient to use a distro when splitting your main power wire) appropriately, otherwise, it will be possible for the 8ga cable to be fed the same amount of current a 4ga can supply (e.g. short-circuit). when this happens, the 8ga will be carrying current beyond its capacity resulting to it overheating and eventually causing a fire.
