Brad, wa man siya mag ingon nga mag dala ta'g oten in public para dili ta tawgon nga ignorante. Asa man ka kita ug nasud o culture nga ang mga tawo mag dala-dala ug oten in public? Bisa'g ang example nga iyang gihatag about sa Japan, mahitabo ra man na on a certain time of year kay festival man na.

So problema nana sa ginikanan ug ilang pakit-on ilang anak ato.

threshold na sa boiling point ang thread padung na jud ni ma close just like the other mideo cruz thread that i went into. What a mess.

Ok here's the thing. Apparently majority are confused on what art should be. And mostly believe it is mainly decorative and pleasing to the eyes. I said this on the other thread and i'll say this here again. Mideo Cruz's work can look tasteless or 'artless' because he did not want to compromise the 'message' of the artworks. That is what abstract art is all about - Visual Communication

I think art should be replaced with that word since many are confused.

I was very optimistic that we can have our very own metropolitan, guggenheim, louve or moma museums until this unfortunate incident. Even the media had their own judgement. Masgipakita pa ang side sa simbahan ug senador ug presidente kaysa taga CCP who are well-schooled men and women. That to me, was very cruel.

Can somebody here suggest another object other than the 'holy images' that can symbolize the Spanish regime? Anyone? ...Bueller?

    Padre Damaso's image will do.

^^^ ok pud na but mu deviate na sa title sa iya exhibit. Poleteismo gud ang name. Padre Damaso is not an object of worship. Katong mga non-religious objects nga naka juxtapose, apil to sila for whatever those represent in worship because they were valued by people at a certain extent. Collectively, seeing those works can form a message. A truth and the Filipino condition.

I don't work for Cruz nor the CCP. I cannot fully appreciate his works kay wala man ko didto nor am i able to totally defend him like some lawyer. Art is subjective but one thing for sure is those works are not to be misunderstood.

@pugak_79: since the title of the work is poleteismo (which i understand to be the vernacularization of the word polytheism), i don't think you specifically have to go back to the Spanish regime to illustrate the point.

while i've not seen the work personally, i'd say his work is spot on. what does the current filipino culture worship? pop icons, political bosses, jesus, $3x.... it's all there in his work. apart from the overt sexuality, i'd say cruz's work is just above that of what any elementary to high schooler can do given the same theme.

his work only became popular because he dared point out the big secret of filipino culture: we worship $3x.
