Dating team pero ibang brand name ang dadalhin ng George Chua franchise sa kanilang kampanya sa PBA second conference na sisimulan sa huling linggo ng Pebrero.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni team owner George Chua kamakalawa ng gabi. Ang team ay tatawaging Barako Bull, isa ring energy drink tulad ng Red Bull.
Gayunpaman, ang Barako Bull ay locally produced ng kumpanya ni Chua at ilulunsad ito nationwide sa lalong madaling panahon.
Samantala, sinabi rin ni Chua na bilang pagpapalakas ng line up ng Barakos kinuha nila ang 6-4 wingman na si John Arigo mula sa Coca-cola. Naisara ang deal kay Arigo na walang kapalit o trade na hiningi ang Coke.
Sa ngayon , kasama si Arigo sa 12 pa lamang na players ng Barako Bull at nangangailangan pa ng dalawang malaki upang makumpleto ang 14-man line up ng team ni Leo Isaac.
Si Isaac na naglaro sa Ginebra noong panahon ni Robert Jaworski at nag-coach din sa PBL ang napusuang ipalit ni Chua sa nabakanteng puwesto ni Yeng Guiao na siyang head coach ng Burger King dating Air 21 sa ngayon.
“Sa mga aplikante na na-interview namin si Leo ang tamang-tama sa gagawin naming massive build up sa team. Maging ang mga pla*yers ay gusto rin ang attitude ni Leo,” sabi ni Chua.
Ang 11-man team ng Barakos sa bagong recruit na si Arigo ay sina Mike Holper, Leo Najorda, Warren Ibanez, Carlo Sharma, Magnum Membrere, Jeff Chan, Larry Rodriguez, Mike Hrabak, Jojo Duncil, Gabby Espinas at Paulo Hubalde.

BALIK-imports Shawn Daniels and James Penny are ready to showcase their wares anew

Daniels, a resident import of the Air21, which will be known as Burger King starting the Reinforced Conference, will be back for his third tour of duty in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Penny, used to be a resident reinforcement of Red Bull, will most likely end up as import of the Coca-Cola Tigers this time around.

Coca-Cola coach Kenneth Duremdes and alternate board governor Gerard Francisco have negotiated with the agent of Penny and the man who led the Barakos to the 2005-2006 Fiesta Conference crown against the Marquin Chandler-led Purefoods squad will most likely end up with the Tigers.

“Kenneth and Gerard are the ones negotiating with Penny,” said Coca-Cola board governor JB Baylon. “Most likely, he will end up as our import, although we have also considered some other prospects, including Rashad Bell.”

But Bell, an outstanding player from Boston University, who played briefly for the Tigers last season, is currently under contract playing in the European Basketball League.

“Daniels and Penny have some sort of similarities, but the most important thing among those similarities is that both of them are team players and make their teammates look better,” said newly-installed Burger King coach Yeng Guiao.

Daniels, a 6-6, banger, piloted the Express to a third place finish in the 2005-06 Fiesta Conference, the team’s best placed finish prior to its runner-up campaign of the same tournament last season.
