What is the name of the "fin" that characterizes "almost" all of the tetras ( characins/characoids ) from other similarly looking unrelated species from other families and orders.

NOTE: This fin is present not only to tetras, a few other fish species have them. Not all tetra-related fish has it, but majority does.

i think you are refering to adipose fin like salmons and catfish...am i right?...The fatty-fin on the back just before the tail of the salmonoids,catfish and characins..

adipose fin. its the small one between the dorsal and the caudal.

make sure they have barbels and the black line extends from mouth all the way to the tail...also, make sure that walay color2x ang fins. mao nay SAE.

@ajol, suwayi kuno sa kanang hardware store sa as fortuna. kanang budget builders man tingali ang ngan ana. Sauna nakakita ko anang mga couplings pero dili nako ka remember kung naay reducer ato nila.
