none boss coz i have no system right now ill be starting from scratch coz i removed everything from the alto which really gave me problems with my voltage. i just want everything to be correct this time when i start my new setup i mean from using the required wire gauges to the grounding, upgrading the alternator, the placement of the speakers, level matching the amps and the headunit and all other things that should be done to make a correct car audio system and i think first and foremost is to have a stable 14.4 volt current if ever possible just correct me on this one if im wrong. having a decent system yourself boss how much voltage are you able to attain? with my alto it reached 13.8 volts when the car's second battery was charged overnight. when im running the car and it is being powered by the stock 40 ampere alternator and playing the track "late night tip" by 3 6 mafia( thanks to ccc111 for the cd) the voltage easily drops to around 9.8 volts thats one of the reasons that i was forced to sell the alto aside from the battery giving up on me when i was about to go to your restobar that wednesday night.

megatedxzx, your voltage had dropped down to 9.8v? that's dangerously low. I'm surprised you didn't fry your alternator. Anything under 12.5v isn't good.

In your civic, what's the stock alternator now? Have you done the big three yet?

the primary purpose of the inline fuse from the main battery is to protect the wire after it . assuming your wire and fuse are correct, simbako mo sikit imo positive wire sa chasis, ang fuse ra ang mo bigay. if wala ka fuse, imo wires will burn, worst, mao pa unya na cause ma sunog imo car. secondary purpose has something to do with current draw by the amp, basin di pud makaya sa imo wires, same thing will happen above. That is why it is advisable that the fuses are located near the batteries. Also, every time you reduce the gauge of the power wires, a corresponding fuse is recommended.

to answer your question, if mo pa.ugat ta, no it is not necessary. just make sure your wires can carry the required current for your amplifiers but do this at your own risk.

the fuses, fuse holders, distribution block, etc ... are quite expensive but it will give you peace of mind. Mura na siya circuit breaker sa balay, it will make you sleep better.

if you want to know the recommended cables and fuses for your ride, just input your current load here:

    2. isnt the built in fuses in the amp enough for protection?

the built in fuses protect the amp, not the power cables

murag the car electricals man ang gi-protectahan sa fuse within 18" from the battery. ang fuse sa amp kay para sa amp.

Nope, not true. Every thing that Joco said is right. First of all, you want to keep the fuse as close to the battery as possible. The wire before the fuse is unprotected which means it can catch fire. That's why you want to keep it close to the battery. Once you are fused, that fuse is also protecting your amp from power serges. The thing you do not want to do is to leave it up to the fuses in the to be the only protection. It's better to be safe then sorry.
