SWU eliminates UV in a blowout. Cobras advance to the Finals and will face the defending Champion Webmasters on Saturday.
SWU Cobras played good basketball... UV Green Lancers played bad basketball.... UV players doesn't have sportmanship ego on court, don't know what's on their mind during the game yesterday...
Above all, SWU COBRAS are hungry and ready for the game and moving to the cesafi finals....
Go, Mighty COBRAS.... Unleashed the venom.....

THANK YOU CEC Dragons for fighting hard!
Base sa duwa gabii, i am glad no one in your camp is crying "gi surambaw na ni you know Who" again. napagaw ko ug siyagit sa mga surambaw nga referees... but then that is another story.

SWEET REVENGE Magis Eagles oust Dragons, to meet UV in jrs finals

The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles waited for one whole year to accomplish their mission of vengeance. And what a wait it was.
Yesterday, the Magis Eagles dethroned reigning champions, Cebu Eastern College Dragons, 82-76, to advance to the finals in the juniors division of the 2011 Cebu Schools
The Magis Eagles took their lumps at the hands of the Dragons — which swept them in the finals last year — in stride and grew from those. In the end, sweet vengeance was theirs as they marched to the championship series where they will face the top-seed University of the Visayas Baby Lancers.
Jair “The Igniter” Igna proved that he is more than just a defensive specialist as he scored 20 points spiked by six treys, two coming in the final canto which helped stem the tide in the face of a furious uprising by the Dragons.
The game was close in the first half, which SHS-AdC led 38-34. But the Magis Eagles came out of the dugout with more focus and fire with back-to-back threes courtesy of Igna and Aaron Sing to grab a, 46-34 lead. They headed to the fourth riding on a, 61-50 bulge.
However, the champions did not fold that easily. Sensing that their season was on the brink of disaster, Lyle Sumayang, Marvin Bauya and Alfred Sedillo conspired for a 9-0 run that saw the deficit shrink to three, 74-77, with 1:08 left. Making matters worse for the Magis Eagles were the fouling out of ace big men Julius Cadavis and Dawn Ochea.
The Dragons had a chance to come even closer on their next offensive but Sumayang opted for an ill-advised fadeaway jumper which nicked the ring, and led to a free-throw by Mavii Suarez for a four-point margin, 78-74.
Later, CEC guard Luther Huevos drove the lane but missed on a difficult lay-up and the Magis Eagles sealed the win with free-throws from Alexander Lim and Dave Yu.
Cadavis added 18 for the Magis Eagles’ cause while Suarez contributed 11. CEC was paced by the 20 of Bauya and the 19 of Sumayang. Sedillo added 12.
SHS-Ateneo dethrones CEC

CEBU, Philippines - The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles banked on their near flawless outside shooting and then quelled a decisive endgame rally by Cebu Eastern College (CEC) on the way to dethrone the Dragons, 82-76, and book the remaining finals ticket in the juniors division of the 11th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) basketball season last night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Magis Eagles of coach Rommel Rasmo, thus, set up a best-of-five championship showdown with the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers starting tomorrow.
jupasko: as of last night, the news from the commissioners office was that game 1 will be played on the original schedule, October 29, Saturday, starting at 1pm.
As of this writing, the collegiate knockout match for the second finals was still being disputed by the second-ranked Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and the third-seed UV Lancers.
jupasko: from eyewitnesses, the game was stopped with less than a minute to go after UV decided to throw "fists and elbows" instead of the basketball. SWU was leading by 20+ points. Very unsportsmanlike of UV.
Jari Igna topscored for the Magis Eagles with 20 points spotlighted by two crucial triples with a little over a minute left to play that doused cold water on CEC's spirited rally.
The Dragons trailed by as much as 15 points, 56-41, with still 3:43 left to play in the third period, but the defending champions slowly crept back to whittle the deficit down to a manageable three points, 74-77, with 1:08 remaining.
After the Magis Eagles couldn't make one good offensive move, the Dragons could have gotten closer but Sumayang missed a wide open jumper with only 24 ticks left in the gameclock that could have changed the course of the match.
The Magis Eagles then made a living at the foul line to scrape through a six-point victory that earned them a shot at making school history just like what CEC accomplished last season.
Interestingly, Alexander Lim and Dave Wilson Yu,- who knocked in the insurance free throws for the Sacred Heart side,- are children of CEC alumni Alex Lim and Wilson Yu.
Big man Julius Cadavis heavily backed up Igna with 18 points followed by Maverick Suarez with 11 markers, while Aaron Sing scored all his nine points from the 3-point territory.
Marvin Bauya, who was whistled for an unsportsmanlike foul for intentionally bumping Alexander Lim in the final 13.9 seconds perhaps out of frustration after a missed shot, paced the Dragons with 20 points. Neil Sumayang added 19 points, while Alfred Sedillo chipped in 12 points markers in a losing effort.
The scores
SHS-AdC (82) - Igna 20, Cadavis 18, Suarez 11, Sing 9, Ochea 9, Yu 6, Go 3, Lim 2, Segador 2 ... Competente 0, Asilum 0, Ong 0, Cercado 0, Tecson 0, Catan 0
CEC (76) - Bauya 20, Sumayang 19, Sedillo 12, Huevos 9, Roxas 9, Yap 5, Zosa 1, Berdera 1 Halftime: 38-34 (FREEMAN)
