Happy 449th Birthday to the Reformed Carmel!
On August 24, 1562, Feast of St Bartholomew, St. Teresa began the reform of Carmel by opening a new convent, St. Joseph's, in Avila. After many initial hardships and struggles the Reformed Carmel became an Order, now, known as (Ordo Carmelitarum Discalceatorum- Order of Discalced Carmelite/ OCD)
