ready for the next LAN party ?
ohhhhhh YEAH!!!
im in sir. no tourneys, pure fun only.
actually, i did not expect that the complaints were just located here. so yeah, this time i have to rant several things about the lan party.
The most obvious disappointment everyone noticed is the lack of people who brought their rigs. It was really disappointing to see only 2 tables occupied. I really had problems on the local games available. When I felt playing CoD4 on multiplayer at night, the public servers was like a ghost town, not even a single player was there. Why? because 1/2 of the people who brought their rigs was participating in the CoD4 tournament. Thus cutting the number of players who are playing the public servers. I have only played CoD4 with those people at the public servers in the morning and afternoon where they were not busy doing anything. What I did at that night was only playing DotA at 2 vs 2 which is pretty disappointing plus include the frequent disconnections sa network. So yeah, the key factor was the number of players. But I cant blame the organizers for that since its not their fault.
(pauses at speaking english this time)
Another is the network. pointed sa post nako above kay ang frequent disconnections. Although fine nalang unta ang 2 vs 2 na dota, gi-dunganan pa gyud ug crappy na network. Internet was slow as f**k. Bisag mag-view nalang sa forums sa istorya dili gyud nako mabuhat.
The PC rental fee which is 30.00 was disappointing for people who would just want to rent computer just to play and join the party. Mugawas ra na 30 or 20 ang oras gihapon nila diba since doubled ang computers(i know doubling the computers is risky since it is possible that not all of the computers will not be occupied, worst would be only half of the computers will only be occupied). Total, stock items raman tong mga computer nila diba?
I have to agree on the post on the last page regarding anti-piracy advocates. Its scary to see that we went into a lan party then we all go to jail because we possess illegal copyrighted material. So, should we coordinate with the advocates or should we be just discrete about this problem?
The location of the lan party too is a "sort of" a problem, since up to now na wala pay jeepney routes around the reclamation area, its not a good choice sa cicc ibutang.
But aside of these complaints, we should come on something we agree on. Its the first lan party ever in the country right? not all people dont have an idea what a lan party is. It should be a reason why only few people brought their computers because only few of us have an idea what a lan party is. Its always better the second time around or probably the nth time around. We have space for improvements which is our primary goal for the next lan party. The next time will always be better.
-Personal.
i've read some post.. but not all,.. however i seem to get the idea..
On be half of the marshalls, i appologized to those individuals who joined the event and were unsatisfied or have some troubles and bruises during the event.. you are all entitled for your comments and opinions.. and allow me to share my small experience with the event.. and lets not point fingers on whose at fault, we will not be able to go nowhere with that kind of attitude., have an open mind.. be considerate enough to be able to understand the side of organizers and marshalls..
well for history.. this was the first lan party held in CICC with tournaments(dota,cs:source,cod4) which has 25k prize for the champ and also includes lots of of side events(psp tournament, starcraft challenge~featuring the best players in cebu). RC racing,oc compe and lots more.. i believe the organizers where planning to have this "lan party" as one of the events to be marked on our calendars.
obviously.. problems were present during the event.. but however, event pushed through, and was not cancelled..
for me, it was fair enough.. since this was the first., i have expected the event will have troubles.. same goes to other events in cebu.
perfection will take time., if everybody wants to have this kind of event fully established in cebu to the highiest level.. then lets be patient.. hope everyone wud be willing to give their support and be commited.. cooperation for cebu gamers, tech, it, gadget people is really badly needed..
"i was one of the marshalls,.. i brought my rig even though ride was busted. alternative was the taxi, im a nursing student.. dont have sleep for more than 24hrs with the event.. was not expecting for compensation since we were volunteers.. but i really demanded for food and water.. lol, so food stabs were provided. so it was fair enough. i would work for beer..lol,. honestly there were no compensation given.. was not expecting that anyway..cuz was volunteer.. i received a big tshirt by the way~my souveineer... i've been a volunteered marshall many times.. from music scence to parties to tech events and many more "
i was contented.. happy to see people smiling, shouting, laughing, enjoying and having fun just like kids... cuz it was priceless..
hope someone gets what im trying to say..

it was tiring, my team got eaten alive in the finals of DOTA, but it was all worth it! i agree with prakx, seeing people playing, competing, screaming their hearts out for whatever reason was well worth the sacrifice of brining what i brought, (laptop, 1 baranggay of friends pa gyud) and the expenses i have incurred...
let's just say, giplano na gyud to nako tanan gud so it was great for me even though it would have been better but if given the chance, I would have done it all over again.
goooooooo next major lan/party with or without rigs basta naa lang tournies para naay matan-aw mga gamers!
@meming tnx..
everything starts from scratch., im more than proud to be part of the LP,.. cuz its not about the money, its not about ur futile efforts, its not about ur foolish sacrifices, its not about ur ego of satisfaction, its not about ur standards or status..
its all about gaming,.. the love and passion of gaming.. i guess this might be the catalyst of something like a next big thing in cebu.. hopefully.. we could establish a decent or big and real gaming scene in cebu.. its nice to dream that we could someday be at par with south korea on gaming industry or pro-gaming.. so dream on...
ive been a gamer all my life ever since 4yrs old, the first electronic game ive played was contra~jap version(i even named it ramboo and comando cuz i cant read the tx, it was on japanese characters) on a family computer unit.
ive also joined many competitive tournaments before in cebu particularly counterstrike, won some and loosed some.. and also did game betting.. and game side betting.. joined lan parties... so i have been there and done that, experienced that and tried that...
i do understand the feelings of those individuals who joined the tournament or the lan party who were greatly disappointed especially the first timers.. as i have said, i have been there.. were terebli sorry and we deeply appologized for our shortcomings and mistakes..
but do look on the bright side.. you were part of history.. part of something extraodinary that not all cebuanos or all filipinos thought possible or could be achieved and done. and we did... this cud be the reason why only few people brought in their rigs, and i believe that those entities cud have imagined and assumed or pressumed that a major Lan party was not feasible or whatever reason they have that is appropriate for their own concerns.. i could say that they are a bit selfish.. or uncooperative.. and this is one factor that our country itself will always struggle cuz citizens wont cooperate.. they will just be mere spectators for the pleasure of seeing the outcome of a final product and will just wait for a fully established and developed event.. thats one trait that should be erased of being a filipino..
so im grateful with the organizers, sponsors, co-marshalls, gamers~spectators and people alike who joined and walked in the event; satisfied or not... we achieved something remarkable...
hopefully our organizers wont stop the process of building something new.. and same goes with the sponsors.. and then it all boils down to the citizenz of the republic of the philippines, the participants.. without ur participation or support, we wont be able to read something like this...
so im thankfull... so lets support our own CEBU gaming scene...
by the way im not running for something like what we call candidacy for the nxt elections... lols..
just another concerned cebu gamer..
proud to be bisdak.. lols
happy gaming~@@
