bakit mahal ang canary birds?^^

ako rin, nagtataka bakit mahal sila... although tama si Sir jake na medyo mahirap sila i-breed din since they are seasonal breeders. there are breeders abroad who have trained their birds to breed even if off season kasi they changed the length of daylight to the birds during the conditioning stage.

breeding season of canaries are from Jan to April. other time of the year will be molting season also.

maraming canarys na hindi successful mag-breed. For no reason at all, some refuse to breed in some breeders while some are prolific. Some are not good parents like they kill their offsprings when the eggs hatch and for some, they dont feed the chicks at all. Some hens are over protective and would not want the cocks to be in the cage with the hens or they kill their own chicks (mutilate). Some cocks are also bad breeders and could kill little chicks when they see them.

But there are also, prolific pairs. maximum hatchlings per season is three clutches. better to keep it at two clutches per year to protect the hens from eggbinding.
