Hey guys, just got my first "normal HET" BP python yesterday from Pipers. It feeds on Hoppers already. Hopefully this will the beginning of a good collection.

After watching and reading different care sheets (which were mostly made in the US) I have a couple of Q's.

    QUESTIONS for the experts.
base on my experience (on corn snake lang) sir..hehe dili pa expert.
1.) Do we really need to heat an area of the tank in the Philippine Environment? For my bearded dragons, I did at MVB's for when they where less than a year old. Now I only turn them on during rainy days.
wa man ko mogamit og heat lamp kai ok ra ang room temps...
2.) Substrate: Is newspaper fine? Planning to put artificial plastic grass or vinyl tiles for easier clean up, is that ok? (it's kind hard to find woodchips or saw dust that are guaranteed chemical free.
ako gamit kai newspaper ra gyud...easily available, cheap and sayon ra ilisan..
3.) Should I feed it once a week or once every two weeks? Also, Flicking the mice in the head to knock it out then feed it is ok?
sa ako corn snake..7 to 10 days...
4.) I do need to put moss on the hide box? I will provide a cut out hidebox on one end of the tank where the outer cover is taped on the outer side of the glass tank so I can flip it open ang check if everything is ok there.
yes moist sphagnum moss sa hide...
5.) Since I plan to leave it at the office, is it safe to leave the BP in the dark for like 15 hours a day (5pm to 8am the next morning)?
no comment on this, wa ko kasuway ani...
    OR

5.1) Is it ok if the BP travels a lot, like I take it to the office, and then when I go home I bring it back with me. So I will need to setup two tanks for this.
na dala man nako ako corn sa office 3 times last year..wa na ko mag-set up og enclosure sa office...kritter keeper lang.
hope this will help...by the way very nice BP sir....

    HET for what sir?

After watching and reading different care sheets (which were mostly made in the US) I have a couple of Q's.

QUESTIONS for the experts.(no expert, just experienced)

1.) Do we really need to heat an area of the tank in the Philippine Environment? For my bearded dragons, I did at MVB's for when they where less than a year old. Now I only turn them on during rainy days.
i dont use any heating system on my snakes. even during cold days since in the wild there will be cold months and they need the cold weather because thats one of the factor in breeding, if you have notice ball python breeding season starts at nov till march.
2.) Substrate: Is newspaper fine? Planning to put artificial plastic grass or vinyl tiles for easier clean up, is that ok? (it's kind hard to find woodchips or saw dust that are guaranteed chemical free.
news paper is the best, and most practical way to go...(will post set up later on the post)..
3.) Should I feed it once a week or once every two weeks? Also, Flicking the mice in the head to knock it out then feed it is ok?
once a week mice/rat should not be bigger than the biggest girth of the snakes body, i try to knock out the mice/rat before feeding.. imagine this: mice/rat fights back and injures your pythons eye..how much is a rat/mice compared to your python..
4.) I do need to put moss on the hide box? I will provide a cut out hidebox on one end of the tank where the outer cover is taped on the outer side of the glass tank so I can flip it open ang check if everything is ok there.
if the snake is new, is on a hunger strike, shedding (but i dont do this offend) i put in some hides..moss will help raise humidity but it is best for gravid females because that's were she will lay her eggs.
5.) Since I plan to leave it at the office, is it safe to leave the BP in the dark for like 15 hours a day (5pm to 8am the next morning)?
ball pythons are nocturnal creatures you will get frustrated if you will make it as a display animal since they are not active during the day and prefers to hide..they don't like the light. much better if it's always dark.

    OR

5.1) Is it ok if the BP travels a lot, like I take it to the office, and then when I go home I bring it back with me. So I will need to setup two tanks for this.
I don't suggest you carry it around too much stress on the snake will stress your ball..a stress ball usually becomes more aggressive / weak / hunger strikes
Hope this help sir..this are all based on my experience and research over the 2-3 years i have been keeping this pets..here is my set-up..

simple, practical and are easy to clean

    Thanks guys. Highly appreciated!

I will be setting up his tank in the office. I already have my bearded dragons at home which I plan to breed soon

News paper it is for the moment.

@tubalytz77: Very Nice setup, where did you have your cabinet made? Parang sa Snaketv talaga a

Here is my temporary setup at home:

I plan to make her comfortable first, and feed her once. When I check this morning, there was poo already, solid poo, so I guess this is a good sign and that she is now hungry too. After I feed her, I will give her a week then migrate her to a bigger tank in the office. I had an extra watering dish from my bearded dragon so I used that for her water.

Sssophia has been resting the whole day today, didnt handle her beacause she just ate yesterday around 2:30pm.

How long does it take for them to fully digest their food?
