DHCP would be the easiest way. as to why nag manual assign mo.. i have no freakin idea.

i agree though that internet connection was dismal. you have internet this minute... and none the next minute yet the person beside you has internet. looks like either bandwidth was too small.. or their switches were throttled.

as for katong naay probs sa games/setup sa ilang computers.. they also could have asked for help from some other gamers who brought their own computers. LAN party goers help one another and share stuff. Tournaments are supposed to be bonuses in LAN parties.

Finally, we should just all be thankful that the LAN party happened with tournaments not just for COD4 (which i believe was the initial plan), but also for the mainstream games, DOTA and the not so mainstream game anymore, counterstrike. There was even a both for starcraft/warcraft challenge that was very nicely set-up specially for those who are interested to see how these competitive games are played and for those who want to challenge the gamers as well.

Yes, we all agree it could have been better. And surely, on the next one, IT'LL BE SO MUCH BETTER (not saying the first one was bad - I had a great time but some did not though)!

Can't wait for the next one! Hopefully we can make enough noise for the big industry players to notice the scene. I'm still hopeful despite having seen the major yearly tournament (WCG) diminishing over the last 7 years.
Well I agree with you, my point was, some of the winners also played on those machines nga giduwaan sa ilang competitors so same ra sila.

Beleive it or not gi ad2 namu almost all internet cafes sa Cebu to let them join and bring their PCs with a very small fee lang and ilaha ang rental mu ad2 pero wala gyuy ni commit

Our promise is to keep going at it until ma build up gyud na nga scene sa Cebu

Now who wants to join the next smaller LP with no prizes? Ill start a new thread nya for that. Para kung maabot tag 50 atleast naa nakoy location for it gi negotiate, and uptown cebu ra cya, easy access to everyone

Oh, ikaw batu ang namaligya unta ug cod4 nga shirt?

@Legends: Were you part of any team during the event? If you dont want to join next time no one is forcing you too, you dont even need to spectate kay para dili magsakit imung dughan. Better to use your 50 pesos or 350 pesos wisely kanang dili gyud nimu kamahayan bro para dili mahugno imung kalibutan sa mga nahitabo.

Out of 1400+ people, so far two complains pa gyud ang nakuha.

Pranka pranka lang, 350 isnt that much for an event like that. Tanaw kag concert nga pila ka uras lang 500 naman gani. Pangita ug LAN PARTY sa kalibutan nga ingun ato kadaka nga less than 350 wala gyud kay makitan. Mostly $10 USD and above ang rate for very small LPs. Katu, provided tanan, Aside form playing- free internet, free wifi, naay food stations, pwede ka mag shopping and most especially the feell of playing beside your openents and laughing with them afterwards, mau na ang essential sa LP, mauna ang purpose sa LP, its not just to win the money or get the prize.

Sa monthly LP nato sa BFW which has been going on for years, 250 ang bayad, no prizes at all. Just pure fun lang lingaw lingaw, wala gyuy ni compain for mga 8 years na! imagine that!
Bro about my HP shirt never mind, its not such a big deal its one of the things that ticked me off, i came for the gaming not for the shirt. i bought my ticket in ayala with my other friends who backed out..

About the part i quoted and put in BOLD. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I CAME FOR BRINGING MY OWN COMPUTER AND I DIDNT GET THAT AT ALL. REALLY! i really came to do just that, play with strangers, have fun and laugh and game. counter dota and internet, but no and nothing i experienced just as much trouble as legends did, conflicting ip address and what not...

people didnt bring their own computers, not more than 20 probably..

maybe uve got 1400+ people, but im sure 900 of them dont know what a lan party is or even how it works, they didnt expect much and less than 50 probably brought their own computer..

i just wanted to have fun, and saying what i feel here makes me feel better, this is what ive experienced so deal with it.

im not going to another lan party held here in cebu again, if i do go il just expect alot less., i have more fun at the local net cafe near school with my friends and the strangers beside me, i make friends when i play anyway..

exactly i feel the same way. i got disconnected 5 times then i couldnt see the game creators anymore

Still have those shirts? I was planning to buy during the LP but was too busy to look for you.
i still have shirts unsold. i only sold 5 shirts out of 30, it was really a shame, ive got a small pile of shirts here.

@ ngkai techs, how can you call yourselves technicians? lol ive met alot of dumb techs also.. shame

i too have been a volunteer from highschool to college and even while working. of course when you volunteer, you shouldn't expect something in return that's why it's called volunteer! if there are any perks.. yes those are bonuses but usually not enough compensation-- but seeing what I have contributed to the welfare of others -- thats more than worth it for me. That's why I continue to volunteer. Had I been staying in Cebu I would most likely be one of the volunteers.

@lokster: Wow, did you really ask 900 of the participants if they knew what a LAN party was? Please do not underestimate your fellow Cebuanos. A lot of people might not know what a lan party is, but to assume that more than half of the participants didn't know what it was is just... well, condescending. No wonder you did not enjoy it... you were too busy counting who brought their own PCs and who didn't.

It's really okay to vent your feelings in this forum, it's one of the reasons why we're here... but what muzikfreakah and myself are asking is please... forgive a little. Next time we know what to do. Hopefully the problems will be decreased. We did this not for profit mind you, and we really are grateful for your participation.

As I did with another person here, I invite you to join the organizing committee next time. You surely have the experience for it... right?

    @lokster

lahi jud na ang event volunteers lang.. i understand na volunteer ka and you think you know the exact things that will happen.. You may have an overall idea about it, but it's tough to do the dirty work.. let's just accept that volunteers may not know about the step by step process of making such an event even feasible..

let's give a hand to the people who were there at the drawing board.. those who created this event out of thin air.. those who did not rely on mere contacts.. let's thank those who excruciatingly tried everything in and out of their power to make an event like this.. only they can truly understand how EVENTS happen..

students, let's leave it to the professionals. They make mistakes too.. but only to learn from them.

    Peace.
