OT: Good day Day Mira, muzta na man ka,
naa gihapon ka diha, ako dia ko sa India karon
    working with Siemens gihapon.
Thanks Day Mira, nice to hear from you once again.

A strong peso really had it's effects with the income of the OFW's
but it's not limited with the OFW's, export firms also are hurt by
    this setback.

This is relevant to "Peso earning-Peso spending" individuals.

A "Dollar earning - Peso spending" individual will have it different way. A sudden change in dollar will alter the spending value in just a snap of a finger!

The strengthening of peso is sometimes being driven by the weakening of dollar and vice versa.
bai, dili lang sa "pan de sal" ha, but there are essential commodities especially in the energy sector that do fluctuate regularly. Yes, the peso's strength is moot at this point if we're talking about the workforce at home--but the thread is talking about the OFW, whom many rely in the exchange. Still the strength of the peso should have immediate effect on export/import products, labi nah sa energy as I mentioned before.

Actually bai daghan kausaban. Naa ka dinha sa abroad. Ako i'm not an OFW. I'm in a better position to observe the well being of our fellow countrymen especially mga kapamilya sa OFW nga nahabilin dinhi. I can honestly say the purchasing power of your relatives had greatly increased. In the construction sector, automotive sector, retail, etc..

Your are right! Gamai ra jud ang locally made products in our country. Gamai ra jud ang MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES using materials from our own backyard.

mostly ana gikan gyud sa gawas, so meaning to say they will spent dollars
to buy replacement/maintenance products para ana nga equipment
pero dili man pud na kada adlaw or kada buwan mostly tinuig man na,

Bai..you forgot to mention it peaked to 55. So sa parehas nako nga nakaabot ana (nisugod og larga ana nga panahon), it means P15 per dollar ang nawagtang.. Grabe jud ang naubos over the past few years yt, wa jud tawn ni intervene ang govt. niadd pa hinoon to og doc stamp. Tsk tsk tsk.

To think lang ha, grabe kaayo ang pag saka sa ofw & the trend is not stopping anytime soon. If ila lang na stabilize ang peso since di man jud ta ta mahudatan og reserve kay taas lagi ang demand sa ofw di man malugi ang govt ana.. Ang ubang nasod ni intervene na, kita kay wa gihapon?! Wow.. Datu jud kaayo ang pinas! We really have more cash to burn! More fun jud.

Bai, ngutana lang ko bai.. Giunsa nimo pagkabalo nga nisaka ang purchasing power sa relatives sa ofw? Meaning ni taas ilang spending? isnt the idea why nag ofw ang tao is To have a better life & to be able to give our families a much more comfortable lifestyle? Add lang sad nako bai.. I dont think nisaka ilang purchasing power but nagkalahi ilang needs tungod sa bag-o lifestlye which is important & is a key factor nganong wa pa nayabo ang economy sa pinas. Think of it this was bai, daghan nasira nga company over the years so daghan nataktak yet taas gihapon ang demend sa mga gimention nimo nga mga sectors. What's weird bai kay di pa jud na sila basic commodities..uban ana ma consider as luxury sa ubang tao( i.e. cars, new house, etc). If not for this spendings bai (new lifestyle trend), daghan najud ta ang niclose shop ron..

With regards to spending power, kadtong nag cge og ingon diha nga " the ofws family should live a simple life" or "should save, blah... Tan aw ninyo, if ang among pamilya or kami in general dili mogasto or magtinihik, do you think momaayo ang " economy" sa pinas? If ang mga tao di mopalit og bag ong balay, di na moadto og mall, di mopalit og sakyanan, do you guys honestly think nga things in the phils would be better? If naglibog pamo ana, studyohi ninyo ang US ron nga grabe na katihik ang mga tao didto.

I think i understand what klayton is saying bai. Purchasing power sa ofw as a whole na iya bai. Every year nagkadaghan ang ofw, meaning obviously nagkataas ang sweldo (kay $$$ & x2, x3 na compared if naa tas pinas nagwork). This translates to the change of the demographics sa mga New buyers (most of them kay family sa ofw/aboard or ofw themselves) sa iyang mga gipangmention nga sectors. What is not mentioned hinoon, obvious ni nga pagsaka kay it is a new lifestyle man. IMO... If di ni mohunong nga trend, 1 of these days modrop lang ni og kalit & ph will suffer.
