Now in its 19th year the Féile FilÃ*ochta, a Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Libraries event, has carved itself a special niche in the international poetry competition calendar and is regarded as a significant and lucrative springboard for emerging poets.

This outstanding and dynamic competition is open to poets everywhere and accepts submission of any style, length or theme. In keeping with its inclusive nature there is no entry fee and up to four poems can be submitted in each language category.

With €25,000 in prize money and a 1st prize of €5,000, the Féile FilÃ*ochta attracts entrants from all corners of the globe. Last years 6,176 entries in the ten language categories came from over 52 different countries. This years competition winners will also be invited to take part in workshops with established poets and judges during the course of the Féile FilÃ*ochta prizegiving weekend which runs in conjunction with the renowned Poetry Now Festival.

We are delighted to welcome four distinguished new judges for our competition this year; Nuala NÃ* Dhomhnaill, Ireland Chair of Poetry 2001-2004 and former Poet-in-Residence to Queens University Belfast, Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin, Rita-Ann Higgins prolific poet, playwright and member of the affiliation of creative artists in Ireland, Aosdána, Gabriel Fitzmaurice, former Chairman of the internationally renowned Listowel Writers' Week and Tony Bianchi former Literature Director at the Arts Council of Wales and Fellow of the Welsh Academy of Writers.

it's soooo weird....... when i read it now, it tends to sound really4x funny..!!!!

** Too Blind To See **

I was too blind to see
Of the love you gave to me
I never gave any attention to it
Now I'm full of regrets with all of it

But what you really don't know
Is that deep inside I love you so
I just can't reveal all of my feelings
'Coz I don't wanna be hurt if in time,
You'll be leaving

Though we're not so close together
Bear in mind that I'll never forget you ever
No one really knows, except me, and me alone
That, what's in my heart is you all along

I really do wanna be with you
But my parents won't allow it, so
I'm keeping my distance from you
To avoid any further mis-do

But right now, I'm starting to feel
that little by little we're slowly drifting
And this, I can never allow, even just a little
For what I want is for us to be back nearer

And that's what I'm trying to do this time
Trying to fix what we had the last time
Our closeness that you and I shared before
That no one else knows except you, me
And the Heavenly Lord…

pagsakit sa mga kalag,
ang kinatas'an ang bayranan,
ang kwarta nag tuyok tuyok.

ang mga kalaban nag ka anam og ka daghan,
daghan nangamatay,
ang mga mata sa tao nabuka.

politikanhon pagpatay,
daghan nangawala,
mga sundalo,
nag pa itoy-itoy.

ngano ni hilak man ka?
nawad-an kaba sa kauban?
na-a ba silay paki?

sa malupigon na demokrasya.

ang mga manlulupig nag dagan-dagan murag buang, sa pagangkon nalang ang kulangan.

darkness captivated me,
draws me to oblivion.
thoughts of evil,
dominates within.
yell of help,
no one seems to listen.
weeps in blood,
soul is afire.
loose of hope,
impending suicidal.
