Hmmm.... I came to this thread to inquire about Sinebuano and how I could possibly help before I formally send an email to join...and then I read this.

I'm not here to start a fight, but I would like to inquire mr. jerome.manato as to how he defines community. I'm part of a separate community myself, and that is the anime community. There are clubs emerging all over Cebu that belong to that community, but some people are also under the impression that there is no existing anime community here in Cebu. That's simply because we are not actively pursuing the mainstream, and the groups are yet to be merged under one cohesive organization. Anyway, that's a different story.

In my view, a community in general is a group of people that are sharing the same interests. Even if the different groups are not merged and has no hype for it outside the groups that belong to it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

But that's my opinion of course. I respect everyone's opinions.

Back to what I want to ask, what would you consider as qualifications to be part of it? I have pure interest and no experience, and I cannot afford to take up education in film-making. I think I can learn if I am able to observe how the entire process of film-making goes. I work as a writer, and I do have some ideas I would want to pitch to anyone who might be interested.

    Thanks~

OT I was invited to the very first screening of "Sabungero" because my friend Patrick was the lead actor in the film. It was good!

not really... it's not kung naa ko equipments or wala... what i am trying to say, is that bisan ug ang gigamit kay dili kaayo ang high-tech equipments, which you already stressed nga mao ang naa sa "sinebuano", you can still make a great short film....... kinahanglan lang jud creative mo ug...... kahibalo mo mosuga (lighting)...

ako, bisan more ko sa technical, pero naka trabaho na nako mga D.P. ug directors nga naa different views so it gives me ideas kung unsaon... and as what i can see in your films, no offense... you guys still needs a lot of practice.

Para nako bro, ang community kay group of people who has the same passion... Pero, ang akoa lang, kay kini gung "sinebuano", they are self-proclaiming that they are the "official-sort of" nga film community diri sa cebu... unya, ang ilahang mga outputs, kay pwera gaba lang..... Maulaw man pud ta aning taga cebu...

I mean, if they really want to be recognized, they should make a "WORTH IT" nga short film, and i-enter nila sa mga short film competitions outside of the Philippines... Let people from outside recognize their works... maybe then, I will bow to this certain group... but as of now, mahulog nga 'grade 1' palang jud na sila.

Ahh... na misunderstood ka bro. Basin na misunderstand nimo sila pod. Sa ako lang nakita, I don't think they're claiming to be the official but they are the most active. But ako ni observation bro ha... I'm not trying to prove you wrong.

Kanang "Worth it bro" subjective. Sa ilang part worth it but sa maybe for some people including you bro dili, so mao na ako pasabot. I haven't seen most sa ilang outputs but I saw mga short films pag premier sa Sabungero ok kaayo bro. As a writer, ka appreciate ko sa plot. Pero of course limited akong exposure.

I stand by sa akong claim nga naa community diri. But like you said, challenge to revive the dead. They sure are trying. Let's give them the chance nalang bro. I'm not a filmmaker but I do believe nga maimprove ang ilang outputs. Mao na ingon bro ba nga dili ta mujudge.

No offence, bro ha. I recognize your expertise sad. Dili lalim makasulod ang BigFoot. I had dreams to enter the film making group sa Big Foot but like I said, dili ko ka afford.

Mag tinabangay nalang ta para ma promote ang Cebuano film making industry.

Ang sa ako lang, they should make first a quality short/feature or docu or kung unsa ilahang buhaton FIRST before sila mo proclaim nga sila na ang "most active" as what you said... Pero, kung sila jud ang most active, hmmm, how come I still haven't heard from them, aside diri sa istorya?

And by the way, ang maker atong "Sabungero" bro, i don't think member to sila sa Sinebuano?

I dunno about Janice Perez being a member sa Sinebuano, but I know for certain that Ruel Antipuesto helped in the cinematography of the short film.

Hmm... ako sad bro ala ko kadungog nila aside diri sa istorya, but I know they are very active sa scene. I'm under the impression that the four short films nga ako nakita sa premier sa Sabungero kay apil sa Sinebuano. Di pod kusog ni ila promotion sa org itself so mao na not a lot of people know about them. Independent man gud bro. Dili jud ni mainstream but as far sa ako nasabtan aning Sinebuano, they are trying to revive the Cebuano film industry.

I'm not sure about this, but being independent man gud is somehow being part of the underground. Mainstream is like being associated with recognized production companies but Confessional was recognized and co-produced by ABS-CBN Cinema One.

Correct me if I'm wrong people, I'd gladly accept my mistake and misinterpretations.

Janice Perez and Ruel Antipuesto are not part of of the "illusional" Sinebuano group.

Sinebuano never claimed that Janice and Ruel are members of Sinebuano.

This jerome manato has done nothing to help cebuano film and would rather criticize while sitting in the sidelines. Yes, the quality of the films that Sinebuano have made are not entirely up to par with other filmmakers but at least they are doing something. These individual are passionate with what they do, they are not employed by any film outfit and yet took it upon themselves to make Cebuano films.

He has been banned from this forum not because of this thread but he opted to use foul language in another. Showing the lack of intellect and the lact of tact. Also, obviously against the rules of this forum.

Working for a global company doesn't make one a filmmaker or an educated *****. If you are who you say you are, I pity your intellect. Being such a suck ass will not get you anywhere... you are nothing. More than anything, I pity the company you represent.
